performance wise how does the uly compare to the triumph sprint gt?

"Performance" is a rather vague qualifier...

The Trumpet will less comfortable and more "sporting", but the Uly has a very good, albeit tall street suspension - with the Trumps conventional forks, I'm sure it would translate to better handling.

I think the Uly has better brakes, though reviewers both seem to say there's a fair lack of feedback on both bikes.

Engine is just going to be a taste thing as the character of them is not far off from tractor vs. turbine.

The Trumpet does have something like 30hp on the Uly, but it weighs around 100lbs more , based on memory.

Ultimately you have two bikes going after a rather similar objective with two very different approaches. I think you'd need to ride both to know which you'd like more.

Ultimately, I'd say it would come down to which engine and riding position you prefer.

This is why I'm looking at a Super Tenere. It is the closest thing to the Uly in terms of power and feel of that V2 engine. (I know the Super has an inline 2.)

"Performance" is not all there is to living with a bike.
XB's don't have the high horsepower numbers some of the others do although not far off some of them.
XB's are lighter weight than most if not all of them.
No other maker can touch the XB's for ease of maintenance.
Once the "different in every sense" handling is understood and mastered, "performance" is realized in a whole new light. Both peg feelers on my Uly are evidence. That and the lack of chicken strips.

Those 1200 Tenere's are MASSIVE. Have you seen one in person? I really liked them in photos, but then I sat on one. It literally feels bigger than a Goldwing. Very tall (expected) and very wide with lots of real estate out in front of you. Massive bike.

I've got a XB Lightning and a Sprint ST. Not the exact models you asked about, but darned close. The Sprint is much larger and better for 2 up riding (even more so with the GT). The XB is more of a raw and brutal sort of power delivery. The Sprint is very smooth and even. The gearing on the Sprint is too high IMO leaving it with less than stellar performance off the line. I changed to a front sprocket with one less tooth and it's much better now. You could easily drop another tooth if you don't mind losing some top end. The Sprint has a much lower seat height, and correspondingly lower pegs. This is great for the vertically challenged, but will have you scraping pegs quite a bit earlier than the XB. Both bikes are very capable performers on the street with great torque. I would give the nod to the XB in stoplight to stoplight riding. The nod would go to the Sprint nearing triple digit speeds. Mostly they just feel very different, raw vs. refined.

I picked up my Sprint as a good deal thinking that it would be a great sport tourer and keep some miles off the XB. The more miles I put on it the more I came to appreciate the bike. I've come to like it more than I really wanted to. It's got great sport bike looks with the bags off, but a riding position that is still quite comfortable. The GT has slightly higher bars than my ST to boot, as well as hard bags that will swallow a full face helmet on each side. The GT also has about 2 more inches for the rider/passenger over the ST. The GT spec sheet shows it to be heavier than the ST, but my dealer has pointed out that most of that is in the new bags that are standard on the GT. The ST weight didn't include the optional bags.
