If you accept the new Bionic update from Verizon your phone won't be rooted anymore.

I had deleted a lot of bloatware, so the update wouldn't even go on. I had to restore to original factory, then apply the update, and then reroot. The old one-click method doesn't work, by the way. You have to use a new method:

Worked like a champ! I used ROM Manager to back up my rooted, updated, stock ROM and then Titanium Backup to get rid of all the bloatware again. This way, if they roll out ANOTHER OTA update, I can restore back more easily than I did the last time. That's the theory, anyway.

Does the Bionic automatically install system updates?

My D1 tells me there's an update, downloads it, and then I manually install it.

Pwnzor - The update doesn't get installed unless you accept it. I just wanted to give a heads up to other Bionic owners before they made the choice.

Jaimec - I was able to restore my phone with the same utility you used. On mine I had to restore, root with 4ever Root, then update. What a pain in the butt!

Had I KNOWN that Verizon was getting a Nexus phone, I would've waited. Still, other than the locked boot loader and all of the Verizon Motoblur bloat, I think we have the better phone (at least regarding the hardware). I'm figuring eventually someone will figure out how to break the lock. In the meantime, the work arounds work good enough.
