The corners held up fine. The top rail hold everything in place. If you have the $$, I would put a pc of rail along the bottom also. |

These are a few of the pictures I got of Aster with her Christmas bow. These were just playing around; had planned on a pic of her with us for our card this year. She did pretty well with sitting there, for being 13 months old... She is a pretty Christmas pup and we certainly miss her.

Calvin had to have emergency surgery yesterday. 16 or 17 years old (not exactly sure, he was a puppy rescue), and he's had a growth on his ribcage for about a year. Vet looked at it a few times - didn't bother Calvin, didn't look "angry", so given his age she opted to not "fix what ain't broke", which I was fine with. Keep him out of sedation? No problem with me. Until Thursday night. The thing was about the size of a tennis ball, and about 10pm Thursday it burst and made my living room look like a set from CSI. Once I stopped freaking out, I grabbed my bag of old wraps from when I got my skin graft back in '08, wrapped him up, and called the vet. She said keep an eye on it and if he doesn't continue to gush blood, bring him in first thing in the AM. He did OK overnight so I took him in. The doc took one look, and after "wow, you did a great job wrapping this" and my explaining how I learned that particular trick...she said "yeah, we'll remove it". Picked him up last night. Took off the E-collar and put a tee-shirt on him to keep him off the incision (about 8 inches long, with 15 or 20 staples in it), and he slept the night. Put him out this morning, he went right for the food. Awesome. I'd post pics...but they're pretty gross. So here's a "healthy Bubba" photo for everyone

Wow Joe- do tell, what the heck was that? On a similar note, we got Chloe back last nite- she had surgery to remove several bladderstones yesterday morning, and we expected her to need to stay overnite at the vet. I'd spoken a couple of times to the vet who did the surgery, things had gone fine... then, about 7ish last nite I got a call from one of the other vets (we'd seen about all of them during all this), she said Chloe was getting too stressed being kept there and she was fine to come home. I appreciated this vet being sensitive enough to give us a call and let Chloe go home a little early. BTW, the biggest bladderstones were about the size of marbles, coming out of a beagle sized dog... yeesh! |

Sebaceous cyst That's nothing. By comparison, that looks like a mosquito bite. There's a *reason* I didn't post the pics. Think hernia...but outside the skin. I can post a cell phone pic if people want... But...no idea what it is, and really not worried about it. Vet asked "do you want it biopsied?". I said why? He's *seventeen* - if its malignant, what treatment are we really gonna do, and how much time will it really add? Cut it off, and pitch it. So....she did. And he's doing great. And that...is what counts to me. He's my boy |

Ashley and I have decided to foster a puppy from the local shelter for the holidays... maybe longer. Shelly was found living in a abandoned barn/shed. An elderly man saw her and started feeding her everyday until she finally let him pet her. She's still just a puppy and hasn't had a lot of socializing with people. But as you can see, from the picture, she's taken to Ash. She's also getting along great with our dog Buddy and our cat Thumper. Right now her and Buddy are playing behind me.

My dog had a sebaceous cyst on his back that grew to the size of a plum. I wake up before dawn, he meets me at the bottom of the stairs and I pet him for a minute in the dark One morning, his back was a sticky mess. Turning on the light, he looked pretty gross. Not exactly CSI material.... |

We picked up a foster placement from a friend today, he's a year old black chow/lab/something else mix. I see pit when I look at him though. Even with the stress of a new household, he's completely submissive, well behaved, doesn't bark, etc. |

about 12 years ago, I rescued a 1 year old Cocker Spaniel named Rambo. He was scheduled to go to the dog pound because his two previous owners couldn't find a way to keep him. He turned out to be the best dog I ever owned and a real friend to have around. Today I had to take him to the vet because we were both suffering too much. Rest in peace little buddy, you'll be missed!!! I'd post his picture but I don't know how. |

'tis the price we pay, for the love we give. Glad you could make Rambo part of your family - I truly believe they know, and are grateful for, how much we love them. |

Wolf thats funny!!! Both my Pits do the same thing. They raise cane to go outside and chase the birds outta the yard, but hey you better not be in the way when they come back in. It's a race to see which one gets to the vent first. My Ameriacan Staffie is amazing. We have one of those little spot heaters you get from WallyMart. 750 or 1500 watt thingys with a fan to help blow the air around. There could be a hurricane blowing, an Apache helio hovering over the house and she would sleep through it all, until she hears that little fan turn on. From that point on its a battle between her and us as to who gets the heat!!! |
