Did the Tampa Tough Mudder last weekend. Just got the notice that I finished with a top 5% time and qualified for the "World's Toughest Mudder" up in Jersey in a couple weeks. Not bad for a 47 year old on my first one - Anybody here ever done one of these?

I did a one in Jax a couple or three years ago.
Good fun, crap time but I did finish! (& I wasn't last by a long way)
I've crossed it off my bucket list & have no intention of repeating the experience.

Haven't done a Tough Mudder yet. Looking at doing a Spartan race, very similar.

Have done Bootcamp Challenge and Mountain Warfare Training Challenges in Cali. great fun as opposed to a straight, monotonous run.

Congratulations on your finish. Some buddies and myself did the one at Squaw last September. Two of them qualified for the World's Toughest Mudder. I think they finished in like 3 hours. Took me about 5. lol. Lots of fun though.

Thanks - I walked around with a ruptured appendix for 4 or 5 days in the middle of Sept, and that really put a hole in my training. I couldn't do anything for about 4 weeks, and only got up to about 2.5 miles again before the event. I was as surprised that I even felt good enough to do the event at all.

Damn dude. That's pretty badass. What kind of training did you do for it? I just added some running to my regular Crossfit WODs.

I just ran 3 days a week, in addition to lifting, which I have done for about 30 years. I was surprised most, that after about 6 miles, I just started passing people in droves. Everyone else was just walking. My knees and shins were killing me, but I decided that I just wasn't going to stop running. I must have passed 700 or 800 people by the time it was over. Also surprised at how many people were bypassing the obstacles.

>>> I decided that I just wasn't going to stop running.

How winners win. Brilliant! Congrats on such a great performance given your recent appendix ordeal. Wow.

Thanks Blake. Now i'm actually looking forward to doing another one, trying to avoid the cold climate events, prolly wait for next near's Fla events. I think I will pass on the "World's Toughest Mudder, seeing that it is a 24 hours long event. Even I have my limits
