Started watching this old biker movie on tv about an hour ago... after searching the internet, finally figured out what it is... The Born Losers... absolutely horrible. Have never seen The Wild One. Should probably rent a bunch of them and watch them. I guess The Wild One started the whole "biker" image thing. Apparently most of them ride Truimphs in that one, and this one too. It is somewhat entertaining... I suppose.
I've not seen a lot of motorcycle based movies (that werent documentaries/races etc), but I can tell you two that are absolutely horrendous: torque biker boyz
holy moly they are terrible and make sport bike riders look like dummies
That movie looks like Oscar material compared to The Wild One. I saw that for the first time a few weeks back. Someone had given me the DVD a few years ago. Decided to give it a try. Threw it in the trash after watching it.
Hell... list the good ones too... I really liked Long Way Round... Dennis in Pensacola gave me a copy. Wasn't there a sequel?
I need to watch On Any Given Sunday.
Wild Hogs is a classic, in a good way. I love that movie, especially because Ray Liotta looks like he is going to crack up every time he delivers a line.
Above the Law - Charlie Sheene Stone Cold - Brian Bozworth Hell Kittenz - a long cast of nobodies of course Easy Rider Time Rider Megga Force Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man Hell Ride - a Quenten Tarantino affair and of course The Sons of Anarchy.
OK Char- the genre is so small, I've not suffered through any "bad" ones...
Tried to talk the GF into watching "The World's Fastest Indian" again last nite, failed- she then promptly fell asleep while "The Limey" got started in the VCR...
I absolutely love Sir Anthony Hopkins in "The World's Fastest Indian"- FWIW, most of the copies of that should have the original documentary on Burt Munroe as an extra, which is great in and of itself... dangit if the one I got off Amazon didn't, guess it was either just a copy or intended for a different market...
If youn's haven't seen "Hell Ride", that one's fun too- AFAIK, that might have been Dennis Hopper's last film role, he was great in this film.
Somehow, I've never seen "Time Rider"- any opinions?
Oh yeah- a really fun film is "The Motorcycle Diaries"- don't let the fact that it's lead character is Ernesto Guevara get in the way, all you political nuts... ... it's quite enjoyable!
"One Week" is a decent film, found it on Netflix...
I kinda hated "Wild Hogs" because everyone rode in formation like they were all on a trailer for the shots- the whole thing was pretty cheesy. I agree about Liotta though, he was fun... I will say the extras on the DVD after the movie were almost better than the movie itself, for the bloopers and for the filmmaking shots. Overall I guess it didn't suck too bad, but that movie should've been better.
As far as likely suckage, just saw "I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle" on Netflix' offerings- WHAT in the world would make someone think this would be a good idea for a movie and actually spend money to make it?
I know it's way too abstract, but I wish someone would take a shot at adapting "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" to the big screen. Lyle Lovett is a motorcycle geek and a multi-line dealership owner, with the mind to deal with that book, hmmm...
Torque is amazing in the most horrible horrible way. I actually watch it because it's just so damn funny. I mean, reading maps and talking on cellphones on a bike at highway speeds, jumping and riding on trains, a jetbike vs harley race at super sonic speed, and the epic mountain dew vs pepsi motorcycle dance/fight. It's the greatest worst movie ever.
that torque vid is awesome! so many things that had me laughing while at the same time shaking my head in a disappointing 'no' fashion.
yeah, hes riding a bike so fast that glass in cars shatters.....yet his sun glasses are holding up just fine. Makes sense.
Danger: "Yeah - I don't call World's Fastest Indian a 'Biker' Movie. "
Im sort of hit and miss on this part. Really, can you think of many people in history that were MORE of a biker than Munro? The man slept in a small shack that was really just a garage for his motorcycle. But in the 'normal' sense, yeah, not really a 'biker' movie like some of the over the top shennenigans like listed already.
And I wouldnt call HD and the Marlboro man a mc or biker movie. yeah, they rode motorcycles some in it, but thats about it. Though it is probably my favorite Don Johnson or Mickey Rourke movie. They didnt do a lot of good ones....
'Chrome and Hot Leather' is what I call a Biker Movie.
The Munro movie was about a motorcyclist - for mine.
BTW - Ol' Burt wasn't universally popular in Invercargill, but none of his contemporaries that I interviewed would say so on tape. His legacy is too good for the Tourist trade.

I remember seeing a biker movie when I was a little kid, it was on HBO at the time... I'm guessing early 90s. I thought it was called "Biker Brothers" but I'm not sure.
Anyways, long story short, the only scene I recall (and this is no joke) is a gang of bikers riding into somekind of rustic biker complex and the camera pans past a makeshift outdoor shower with a bunch of chicks gettin' clean. Being that I was about 7 or 8, that was the best movie on the planet at the time.
