Seriously. It further degrades the office of the President as it inculcates our young with yet more immorality. The power of suggestive media is not to be underestimated. We've tolerated it for far too long already. It's long past time to oppose and admonish against such depravity. Those who perpetrate it need to be shamed. | ||

Come on this is Benetton we're talking about here, they've been producing over the top commercials for decades. So, some of you won't buy their products because of this ad campaign? well I hardly think you're their target demographic either so it's no loss to them. Blake - We've already done enough to degrade the office of the President since Reagan. The ad series however is no more a lie than Wil E Coyote plunging over the cliff and surviving after the anvil then falls on his head. Both are cartoons. It's Benetton and this is just how they get their publicity - by generating this very type of talk and sucking people who are "outraged" into the conversation. Your outrage may be understandable but is giving them exactly what they hope for. | ||

Meh... When I was a teen I appreciated the quality of a lot of their stuff at the mall, but not the $$$ they were asking... I used to dig the hot/exotic models the once used, but this marketing/branding thing nowadays is ridiculous. I'd sure like to have a long lunch with my old marketing professor nowadays... a local car dealer has a new TV ad tactic that makes me nearly homicidal, just heard it last nite... First, you hear the old dude with his familiar fever pitch about some Dodge something or other, over the years I've come to mimic him pretty well (which is fun with a few beers BTW)- then I guess about midway, they are now putting in LOUD audio of a text/message alert FROM A FRICKIN CEL PHONE!!! GRRRRRRrrrrrr!!!!! I decided last nite after hearing that a couple of times, that I'd go shopping there, with a device in my pocket- I'd ask the sales guy a question, acting like I'm really into some high dollar car, then every time he tried to respond, I'd hit a button in my pocket and go BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP!!! Geez... | ||

Innes, I'm not sure I've ever even seen any clothing by the company. Is it some special kind of homo attire or something? Steve, I get your point re the pres, but we gotta turn it around sometime. And complacency is what allows such damaging irreverence to spread and intensify. I disagree that it's just a cartoon. It's images of real people, and it depicts them in fictitious activity. It's a lie. I'm fed up with the lack of integrity of our culture in general. Squids, just repeatedly use *that word* when talking to him. | ||

Blake- once upon a time, actually, the company made really nice sweaters and stuff, just pricey... The Dodge dealer would likely completely understand *that* word... reminds me of a customer of mine who was a little tricky to understand 100%- when he said "yeah" it was pronounced "YaY-Uuh". Just about two syllables there. I agree, might do you some good to get out more, cerebrally and physically- been to Cajun country lately? Come on over to Appalachia, mebbe I can find some Melungeons for you to meet...  | ||

Or maybe travel a bit. Try Europe, Japan, Australia, or someplace that isn't the USA. Get cultured a bit. Drk, I have to agree. There are things that are worth worrying about right now. An ad campaign from some company that I don't even buy anything from is not one of them. Speak with your wallet if you don't like it. Otherwise go on with you business. Or get a life. Funny, that the main thing some people see, and are outraged by, is two men kissing. It's opposing political leaders being posed kissing, to make a point... I can only guess that the point is that there should be more international cooperation, world peace, something like that. But what sets people off the most is the "moral depravity" of a fake depiction of two men kissing. And you do realize there are cultures that would not consider a closed-mouth kiss between two men homosexual at all? And being upset that "it's a lie"?? Are you outraged over every political satire cartoon ever published featuring the likeness of a person? Or is it the use of photoshop that makes it a lie? I don't see how it can be a lie if they're not claiming the photos are real. | ||

Any person with a friend that knows how to do photoshop is bound to have seen something worse. Also my point wasn't about the image which I found dumb but nothing more. It was to illustrate how pathetic I find homophobia to be. If you don't want to kiss guys don't if you do do. Keep a limit on PDA in public no matter what you orientation and all is good. Now for some humor.... I've always wondered why homophobic men hated Gays so much.
