I was kind of disappointed at first because you couldn't really tell what kind of incline it was until...

Wow. Two stupid questions...

1) What language was that cursing in? German?

2) Why on earth would you try a long hillclimb on a snowmobile without some sort of effective self arrest tool tethered to your body somehow?

The moments where he was blowing down the mountain head first scared the crap out of me...

I was thinking the same thing Reepicheep.

An ice claw may have come in handy, he'd have had enough time to unstrap it from his leg and throw it out to slow down his descent.

Gravity seems to work just fine there!

They're doing it wrong...

First, why the hell would you try to stop/jump back on the damn thing when it's STILL FLIPPING down the mountain? Not enough broken bones yet?!

Second, why not just wait, catch yer breath, watch where the damn thing ends up, then have some fun, slide down on your dumbaiiss to get back to it?

Bonus for all his idiot buddies for throwing themselves down the mountain after him, also trying to tackle the machine...

I suspect beer or schnapps were involved.

That was funny! Thanks for posting!

I came across this vid a few days ago. Seems appropriate in this thread, watching gravity work on human bodies in close quarters.

Jeez, don't know how those flying squirrel guys stay airborne carrying a huge pair big brass ones.

It's the sort of thing I'd love to have done in my immortal youth, I know now that I'm past it, but it's nonetheless impressive.

Two words Jeb Corliss

And my favorite. Look to the very upper right of the screen in the beginning. Unreal. Of course with the help of The Prodigy.

I'd still like to see a flying squirrel suit flier land without a chute.

Actually Corliss has figured out that a fabric ramp at the right angle would let him do that. Trying to get a Las Vegas Casino to sponsor one.

The trouble is the stall speed is just to high for human landing gear, and I'm not sure if they can get the flare all the way to horizontal. So Jeff isn't even going to try, just land on a sloped surface.

I think he's nuts, but thats because the latest generations of Wingsuits is the first gen that hasn't killed it's inventors. The problem has always been that the stresses on the arms prevented safe chute opening. Not the first time, sometimes, but until the new ones came along, wingsuits were a suicidal dream.

I admit I am Prejudiced. I'm a Hang glider pilot with skydiving experience, but always drew the line at base jumping. Wing suits killed too many guys I knew, for the last century, but I've been out of the sport long enough..... Wing suits actually open up base jumping to more mountains..... Hmmm...

Corliss plan is similar to an Olympic ski jump landing.

http://www.skisprungschanzen.com/EN/Ski+Jumps/GER- Germany/BY-Bavaria/Bischofsgr%C3%BCn/0603-Ochsenko pf-Schanzenarena/
Once slid on my butt down that one in the middle of a rainy summer night after too much Jägermeister and beer. Half way down I decided it wasn't a good idea.
Too late Greg!
Made the landing and survived without a scratch.

Good article on Corliss here.
