PS, to really appreciate it put on your headphones & crank it UP. I saw Focus live at the Rainbow theatre London back in 72 (I think) and couldn't hear for days afterwards.....Jan Akerman is touring again now as a solo artist, and still playing Hocus Pocus and Sylvia in his set

In lieu of listening I'm demonstrating poor parenting skills by switching on the Discovery Channel to watch the Tuetel family pick scabs and shout.

I do love the Allman Brothers, but they did tend to go on a bit. The extended version of Jessica is great (I loved it before it became the Top Gear theme)but for the rest after about 6 or 7 minutes of diddly-diddly "look what I can do" I find myself shouting shut-up & reaching for the remote. Probably why I don't like Jazz much except for swing & boogie.

>>>>I do love the Allman Brothers, but they did tend to go on a bit. No worries . . . I've switched to opera. Bizet was a genius By the way . . . if you want to get a step ahead of me . . I' headed to Cal Tjader and the Grace Cathedral Concert . . then to Todd Rundgren . . "Something/Anything". Busy day.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carmen It's Bizet's last, the usual opera thing, lots of jealousy & murder, but with great tunes. Torreador being about the most famous.

While we're in a classical spin, here's part of the "Planets Suite" by Gustav Holst. This is Jupiter, it moves me so much it always brings me to tears as it reminds me of my mum. About my favourite version too, the Berlin Phil' with Simon Rattle conducting. The whole suite is utterly magnificent. And if you like it you might also like Dvorak's symphony #5 "The New World" written about the N American continent.

Sure was Chris, the common title is "sheep may safely graze", if I remember correctly it's actually the largo or slow movement of the symphony. Dvorak (pronounced vorjhak) wrote some super stuff but number 5 is about his best known. Here's another that many have heard but don't know what it is. Dmitri Shostakovich "Jazz Waltz Number 2" If this doesn't make you feel good, you got no soul.

I saw them @ Brighton Poli sometime in the late 70's/early 80's (I think). Viva Max Splodge! The Tiro of Punk Pathetique They were supported by Peter & the Test Tube babies. I also have a real soft spot for John Otway & Wild Willie Barratt & most Brit' music of that era/genre. Chris C
