Don't really have plans for our Buell Blast this year at Bonneville but if somebody might be interested in a cheap way to get into LSR racing I could possibly be persuaded to bring it back.

The rider would need to be quite small (like around 5' and 110 lbs or less) if you want to be competitive.

The tough part is finding the 5 inch tall rider . . . but . . if you do. . . you are in the books again.

Seriously - you NEED TO CALL Harly Legowski at CP Pistons! Not only is she already likely to be in tech up there, she would fit the Blast PERFECTLY.

I assume you already have her contact info?

Fixed the height!!!

Harly is my sales rep at CP and I speak with her at least 4 times a week. She was actually supposed to drive Iron Wigwam this year at Bubs but things fell through.

I guess I should have been more clear. The Blast could be available for somebody to ride this year and all I would expect is that person to pay the expenses that are incurred to do so. That is what I did with it last year.

My wife can always ride it if needed but we have moved her up to bigger bikes now.

Uhhhh . . . I'm not sure. legally, than you can "Fix" it. Once you said it . . well, it's fact. If you change it, well . . it's discrimination.

Welcome to the new America.

Right now I am planning on her riding an XB in production class and a Sportster in modified 1650 class.

I just shared this pic with a 5-foot, 110 lb. co-worker of mine to fire her imagination.

Dan:

How long do we have? I'm thinking . . . if I could get FMJH down to 105# or so in time . . well, he's got the experience.

I can understand height, but what's the major focus on weight for at Bonneville?

Rolling friction is directly proportional to weight.

Smaller means less aerodynamic drag. Rolling friction is pretty negligible compared to that.

Actually what you weigh is really not the issue. It is how much of your butt is hanging outside the seat that we worry about!! ; )

The wider you are the more wind resistance you create. A 5'10" rider who weighs 140 lbs would be a lot more aerodynamic than a 5'2" rider who weighs the same.

As Blake said the weight means nothing if it is aerodynamic in shape. On our high powered bikes we actually add extra weight to the bikes to keep the rear tire from spinning. On my Sportster we have an extra 70lbs of lead shot in a box on the front of the swingarm.

Nate-

In the context of tire meets terra firma, friction = traction. I know of some pretty vast Bonneville folks who believe that weight can be an aid (at Bonneville specifically) whereas at events with a limited runup area, that may not be the case.

Dan-

Thanks for the clarification. We were not talking about weight at all but size. : )

So Uma Thurman ought to dust off her yellow "Kill Bill" leathers and give you guys a call?

And shape. Women usually have narrower torso width, plus the "pear bottom" advantage for aero.

I saw a Blast with a turbo last year at Bonneville at the World Finals:

And at least one attractive lady attempting to set speed records:

Attractive lady, turbo Blast. Sounds like a good combination to me.

We really need to get our Utah Buellers out to some of these events, en mass and support you guys when you come out for these events.

Please post us a heads-up on the Utah Buellers Storm Fronts page when you get plans in place.
