So do our citizens. Oh and there was LA back in 92 among others. I don't advocate violence but it could and most likely will happen again.

BlakeDaddy....I like it. BlakeMonster is better though.

Charlotte has lately been a walking testament that we can find common ground. You too, Andy.

I actually understand some of the frustration that created OWS. So do many Wall Street traders.

I just do not like hypocrites... yeah we should have campaign finance reform... it is not a new debate. Maybe you all have even convinced me that tax reform is needed.

But don't boo hoo when you get arrested bc I have had a LEO save my life. And have also survived growing up in a war zone.

Andy goes up another branch on the tree of respect, while Dave goes subsoil.

The '92 riots were RACE riots. I was there, defending local businesses from the horde. I was armed then, I'm armed now, always will be.

I wonder what percentage of the "occupiers" (spoiled kids trespassing while spending their allowance money) actually owns, or can even handle, a gun.

My 8 year old can strip an automatic pistol to the frame in about 30 seconds, drop all the pieces into a box, shake it up, and reassemble it in about 2 minutes.

Family values.

I love when I see people equate guns to family. It drives Anti-gun people crazy. I took my 8 year old stepson to the kid's NRA safety class (administrated by a trooper my wife worked with an a local officer in our city) this past summer and loved the mortified look when 'they' learn that he's shooting a decent group at 50 years with irons. He's mildly autistic and has ADHD. Shooting centers him. It is one of the few things you can get him to focus on.

This weekend, the wife and I took him and some of the other BoyScouts to setup a table at a local gunshow to sell the popcorn for a fundraiser. They had a blast. Some of the other parents were surprised that while there were a couple of grizzly looking guys, they looked just like everyone else AND every father/dad son combo that we talked to was a Scout, with more than Eagle Scout stopping by throughout the two days.

Heck, before I got married, most of my girlfriends were Left of center and all were gun hating, PETA supporting vegetarians. By the time I got done with them, they still supported PETA (I do too...) and were vegetarians (I am not), but all had purchased their own guns!

Great link Char! It included this...

quote:

Oil line clog blamed for fighter jet crash

Madison - A U.S. Air Force report says a clogged oil line led to engine failure in a fighter jet that crashed in south-central Wisconsin this spring.

The Wisconsin Air National Guard F-16C Falcon crashed into a vacant Adams County vacation home during air-to-air combat exercises June 7. The pilot ejected safely before impact.

The Air Force's Air Combat Command released a full investigative report Friday.

The report concluded an oil line feeding an engine gear box was blocked with debris. Investigators found a chunk of Teflon in the line.

Don't use teflon tape on your drain plugs... Mkay!

Char, re: campaign finance.

I like the idea my father had. You can only spend as much money as you would make in the full term of office. For Prez that would be about a million. No hope of getting that one passed. ( one of the things I agree with SD about )

I really liked Alan Keyes idea back in the 2000 race. Simple. Any US citizen may donate as much as he/she wants. Full, open books. Char donates $5, it's on record. Bill Gates donates $7 million, that's on record too. Anyone can look. No donations from companies, pacs, unions, corporations, foreigners. Also, IIRC, a whistleblower shield law so if your boss wants to launder money through your donation... he goes to jail. ( Companies are not human no matter what stupid law says. )

Be a real hard law to pass, but after the $600+ million laundered the last election, you might get a popular call for it.

I haven't come up with a better plan. Love to hear one.

For all the money spent on campaigns in this damn country... we could probably pay a living wage for EVERY US Citizen. It is a huge waste... and it only benefits the super rich. Yes it is a racquet for sure, but WHAT exactly does that money buy ? Usually a bunch of rude attack ads. If we ban political campaign adds... what the heck would the money do... absolutely nothing... I wonder if people might start to actually think for themselves?

BO raised about $745M for his election campaign in 2008.

That's just slightly over $2 per person.

Not saying that it was money well spent, but it would hardly create a "living wage".

If we assume that the total election campaign cost was $1.2B and let's say that the total US work force is 120,000,000.

That equates to about $10 per worker or roughly $.005 per hour increase.

How about looking at how much the Clinton campaign spent in 2008 and the McCain/ Palin 2008 campaign spent in addition to Obama/ Biden. What about that ? Oooh or take a look at the total spent by ALL CANDIDATES both Federal and State (Governors, State Assembly and Senates... in addition to Presidential look at Congress men and women) over the last 12 years... what do you think that number is ?

Does it matter?

Let's say it was $12B that has been spent over the last 12 years.

That's $100 per worker spread over 12 years.

Would that really have made a difference in your life?

If people want to give the fruit of their labor to the candidate who best shares their political beliefs, I don't see that there is a problem.

The Supreme Court agrees with me.

In the grand scheme of things, it isn't much money.

Now, $4T over four years, equates to about $33,333 per worker or about $8333 per worker per year.

THAT should piss you off!

Road Thing and others let Char shoot a gun and the Conservative ideals are starting to gel. Forget this living wage stuff and teach people marketable skills they can live the american dream. The other issue is some people will never suceeed now matter what training they get.
Others no school no college and you cant stop them. Edison for example.
