So i live behind a laundromat and i am always worried about people stealing my bikes out of my storage shed\tent thing. So i got a 6'x12' enclosed trailer to replace the tent like shed. I was wondering what anyone of you guys have done and or have done to deck out the trailer. I plan on making it into a portable shop\garage. I am going install tool cabinets and use it for camping, Track days and general storage of my most prized bikes and tools. I am going to install removable motorcycle chocks a generator and a working stove and a fold away bed\couch. Then i also need to install shelving for fluids and hand tools. Cost is not an issue and i was hoping for some other suggestions and maybe some pictures or your set ups.

Oh i was also toying with the idea of some solar roof panels for more power options in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks in advance.

Here's what I've got. It's for sale too.
42' has an air compressor, generator, queen bed, small stainless kitchen, work bench. I've used this 3 times for home coming. It just costs a little to fill up two 53 gal. tanks.

If you're looking to keep your bikes and other prized possessions secure, you might not want to put them in a nice tidy, easily removable package like an enclosed trailer.

We've seen a lot of Sea Train containers broken into on jobsites. Hang out a sign that says "DANGER - EXPLOSIVES" and that will make the guys with cutting torches pause to reflect. A trailer seems even less secure than the sea train.

how tall is your trailer inside? If its 6.5 or 7 then you could always store some lightweight, slim items on the ceiling (fishing poles etc)

as for securing the trailer
a) try to park it with the door/ramp to a building so it can not be lowered
b) as well as using a lock on the latch of the hitch, also get one of the locks that goes INSIDE the hole for the ball (on the hitch). I apologize, not sure what to call the part/area. But that'll give you two locks on one part.

And use the puck style locks if you can, no area to get a bolt cutter into them.

As for the trailer - I am actually going to be doing similar stuff this winter (hopefully).
Instead of a generator Im going solar energy (only use it a weekend or two a month, plenty of time for it to charge back up)
all of it will come in under 500 bucks, not too bad

As for storing of fluids etc - check out pitpal or the summit/jegs versions etc they offer units that will hold many quarts of oil and other liquids youd want in there (brake parts cleaner etc)
Many have the option of holding paper towels on the bottom and/or a fold down table. They are compact and very efficient.

removable chocks rule big time, that way you can get them out of the way when you arent using them VS more permanent solutions that will inevitably get in your way.

Id also recommend a tie down holder, keeps your tiedowns off the floor and out of the way when you arent using them.

I have a 6x10, so I understand the need to maximize space.

I look forward to seeing/hearing about how you transform your trailer in the future!

First thing I would be installing is a tracking device.

That trailer idea is a goner for sure. As soon as they break in, they'll move the whole thing to a more secure area and start ripping it apart, top to bottom, with everything in between for sale.

If it were me, and if you are still an auto shop manager, I'd work out something with the folks at work to secure those bikes, the equipment, and the eventual trailer as well.

I'm real surprised that you haven't lost something already.

Yes me too. two seasons! unfortunately i have first time credit because i was stupid and bought everything in cash over the last 12 years and it hurt me more than helped me...Now i can't buy a house because my credit score isn't high enough to qualify. I will literally take wheels off it and drop on the ground and chain the whole thing down......Now you got me thinking more security is needed!! The theft out where i work is far worse than it is here where i live. Dam you two season jk!

Wheels off doesn't mean as much as you might like. Universal hubs make replacements easy. I would also do the tongue ball lock and as you say you have some money to spend, do an alarm system on a fence around it, if they are close enough to break in when the alarm goes off they will already have it.

I had a nice 6x12 inside a locked fence under a car port and it was locked with a chain to a concrete building. If they have time to study where it sits and when no one is around it can disappear like mine did.

Expect it to be taken, insure it and make sure you have a camera system woth flood lights around your property. The flood lights will help them see so they don't screw your stuff up too bad when you bust them.

Well i got the trailer. And i parked it backwards and using a come along i got it up against a tree to where you cannot access the one hub of the trailer. Then i got a tongue lock on it and then i drilled 18" holes in the concrete around it and anchored it to the ground in 4 spots. The anchor chains are welded and there is no way to remove the chains without serious power tools. I just wired up the power in the trailer and i was able to have my trailer wired for my home security system to work in the trailer also. I ran industrial power wiring and and installed a plug socket and a florescent light fixture. Then i drilled a hole in the trailer floor and ran the power cord externally to another power source. I put in a shelf unit and i am waiting for my new 3 helmet bin and coat rack to show up so i can install it. Here a couple of pics.
