Mostly because they're serving stewed okra in the cafeteria as one of the vegetable sides...

Stewed okra and 'maters is good fare. By itself, it's only good for wallpaper paste.

Yeah, unfortunately I had to settle for chicken piccatta.

Strokizator: There were 'maters in the stewed okra.

Yeah Jeff- it's about done for the season, but my one okra plant has grown to almost 15' tall! Plus, it's still blooming!

Unfortunately, the leaves are dying, so it's just a matter of time for the rest- with cold weather coming in a day or 2, the last teeny okra will be harvested soon.

I'd saved some sliced and breaded okra to take to BTF but forgot them- will be frying them with some eggplant tonite.

I know- not the homegrown you were thinking of...

I must admit, I've grown to appreciate okra... stewed, fried, or in a gumbo. I've yet to try it pickled, though...

Had some shrimp and okra stew last night. Most excellent.

Jaimec: try a pickled okra in a bloody mary!
