Well, tonight at midnight the church van takes off for BWI airport for a 6:00 a.m. flight to Guatemala via Miami.

I'll be there a week working with 18 others from my church. Plans aren't set in stone as to what we'll actually be doing while there, but the group (39 people from teens to a 75 year old lady) that went down in July built a church and a small house for a homeless lady and her 2 daughters. I think the plans are to work on some kind of vocational training building.

There will be a day spent at the city dump feeding the homeless that live there, another day at the children's orphanage and adult rest home.

If you wouldn't mind, keep me and the team in your prayers for safety, health and team unity.

I'll be taking lots of pictures and videos and I'll try to get them up when I get back. Internet access is very limited at this location, but one of our guys is taking an aircard for his laptop and will be trying to update any progress on our church website: http://www.gbclive.org if you want to "follow along"

Thanks!
Dan

I went down there with H.I.M. in 2008 and it was very inspirational. I do the same type of work once a month at a local impoverished community now. God Bless!

Still in One Peace!

The above is a link to my church website and a link to the blog one if our leaders is updating on a daily basis.

Things are going great. We helped a local work crew build a 18' x 36' school building out of cement blocks. The location of the building is probably about 110' from the closest truck unloading location, so all the cement blocks had to be hand carried to the job site. All the concrete and mortar was mixed by shovel on a cement slab then shoveled into 5 gal buckets (about half full for weight) then passed via bucket brigade to the building. All told, one if the leaders figures we filled, passed and dumped somewhere around 3500 buckets of dirt, sand and cement.

The only electricity on site was when they brought a generator in to run an old Lincoln stick welder to weld the steel trusses to the rebar ceased in the walls.
