Today is the 15th birthday of this groundbreaking news organization. It is truly "fair and balanced" as it has an unusually large number of non-Conservatives to bring a counterpoint. The same can not be said of MSLSD and CNN and this is one of the reasons that Fox continues to swamp all other competitors in the ratings.
So groundbreaking they admit they lie and they can legally get away with it. Here is to another 15 years of distorting the truth, poorly representing groups and ideas they don't like.
By the way, Jamie Colby in her periwinkle dress makes good eye candy You'd have to be a homosexual not to like those pretty women on Fox.
Fox News actually reports the news that the other MSM refuse to cover. Only CBS, out of all of the MSM's, seem to be reporting breaking news again. Welcome back CBS!
I've seen it time and time again with the one sided interviews and "debates". Recently, a bill was passed to give government grants to independent video game makers to make educational games, and Fox turned it into some crap about the gov using our tax dollars to promote games like Call of Duty. Fox would invite someone from a gaming blog on to discuss it, then Fox would have some wack job talking head to counter him and not even discuss the issue at hand, but rather how games are violent and waste of tax payer money and so on.
Shortly after the Columbine massacre, that tool O'Reilly went on about how music he didn't like is corrupting kids. He interviewed Marylin Manson and the Insane Clown Posse. Given that MM has an IQ higher than a brick and is able to engage in thoughtful discussion, he got next to no air time in the interview. The ICP on the other hand, they kept them on as long as possible because they were making asses of themselves, and proving O'Reilly's point.
If you want real news without the BS, either check out Al Jazeera, or use a news aggregator like Google News so you can quickly check multiple articles.
No - won't get over it. Pandering to an audience is fine for entertainment like Fox News or MSNBC, but it's not fair and balanced news reporting, left or right.
but it's not fair and balanced news reporting, left or right.
Thats the problem I have with Fox. I don't give a crap that they are right leaning, but the whole fair and balanced is just plain bullshit. It makes the gullible think they are a credible source.
quote:
Liberals have 4-5 other major news networks to watch that have pandered to you for the last 40 years... get over it.
Sharpton, Code Pink, Mark Lamont Hill, Kucinch (sp), Bob Beckel, and a large garbage heap of Leftists regularly are on Fox. Can't say the same of MSLSD and CNN with Conservatives.
Maybe you Fox haters should try watching the channel before hurling your sputum.
My recommended reading today is Neil Postman and Steve Power's How to Watch Television News. 2nd Edition, 2008, paperback.
Perception Management. See: Wikipedia
It's all a matter of manipulation. For example, the parents of Amanda Knox hired a PR firm before her appeal to work the media in Europe. The third convicted perp, an African who testified against her and her Italian BF, is still in jail.
TV is about manipulation, from agendas to selling products. If it didn't work, there would be no viewers and no commercials. MSNBC has very low ratings, therefore their junk stinks to a lot of people.
I like the "fair and balanced" kicker Fox uses, implying that all the rest are unfair and unbalanced, which appears true.
If we understand that TV is a business, it's easier to decipher what's up.
Personally, Fox amuses me most because it is hated by people with whom I am not in agreement.
Ahh, Relfe.com. All the news for the tinfoil hat crowd. Strange that they have one story calling Fox News liars and another story where they use Fox as a source. So which is it?
Due have to correct you on a point, Bill O'Reilly is commentary not news. To many people (on both sides of the fence) listen to the opinion/commentary shows and believe that what they are hearing is "News"
Brit Hume was rated as a right wing newscaster, however during that time frame Fox overall was rated closest to the center of all the major broadcast stations.
Also try to separate the FOX "news" segments with the "opinion" segments. No one would argue that the opinion segments were fair and balanced, but it has been determined in poll after poll after poll that Fix actual "news" shows are the most balanced of any network or cable outlet. The others are SO FAR to the left that the center news reporting looks to be right biased.
You are dead on accurate. There have been at least three journalism school and media studies, and in every one, Fox News beats them all for least biased coverage of the news.
Happy Birthday Fox News!
They have broken some important stories and provided coverage of others that the other networks and popular news media tried to bury.
The ACORN scandal for one.
The massive corruption of the UN/Iraq Oil for Food program for another.
Sheep Smith is no conservative.
Megyn Kelly and Gretta Van Sustren are among the best legal analysts I've seen. Judge Napolitano too. Tough really smart folks.
I sure appreciated Hannity's coverage of the gov't imposed drought on California farmers over a €ĄŁ%ing minnow. I still can't believe that was allowed to happen.
O'Reilly's interview of Obama was the best I saw prior to the election.
Bernie Goldburg's insight into the corrupt news media is very educational.
Every commentator will mis-speak fro time to time. How they handle that indicates their honesty and integrity.
Based on what you know from your preferred media outlets:
1) Who appointed the person that first outed Valerie Plame as a CIA agent?
2) What were the stated reasons the US went back into an active engagement with Iraq?
3) What political party freed the slaves?
4) What political party was against segregation?
5) Representatives from what party demanded an end to executive corruption and bogus accounting from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac two years before the current economic crises?
6) Bonus: What representative from which party pilloried the above representatives for daring to question Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac accounting?
7) Double Bonus: Did the person in 6 above have a romantic relationship with an executive working for Fannie Mae?
Those are a few that bug me the most.
No media is perfect. Fox is right of most of the other outlets. Some of us believe that is centrist, others believe that is right.
I'll listen to NPR from time to time. I like their coverage, but can't stand their slants and misreprentations (all masterfully, subtly, and very effectively effected).

1st, that report, if you can call it that, concerns a local broadcast television station, not News Corp, the Fox News cable folks.
2nd, that report is incredibly misleading. Notice that they editorialize rather than quote the stations stated position in the case. Really yellow journalism.
3rd, the station was joined by a number of major media concerns.
4th, and this is the major point, the lies that the station wanted put forth were those that were told by Monsanto.
Read the following carefully...
quote:
...Fox executives and their attorneys wanted the reporters to use statements from Monsanto representatives that the reporters knew were false and to make other revisions to the story that were in direct conflict with the facts.
The station merely wanted Monsanto's false statements on the record.
That report is incredibly poor journalism.
So, to recap...
It wasn't Fox News (News Corp), but rather a local TV broadcast station.
A number of powerful news media concerns agreed with the station's position.
It wasn't a falsehood by the station that was at issue, but rather false statements by Monsanto.}}
The authenticity of some of those supposed screen shots is doubtful. One seems authentic enough, the one showing "State of America" with a circle marked around it. Explain the problem wight that one please. Then explain it in relation to the title of the president's annual speech addressing the state of America, namely the "State of the Union" address.
The eagerness with which Fox News detractors will swallow anything appearing to diminish the stature of the cable news channel is amazing.
They are light years away from employing liars and frauds like Jason Blaire (New York Times) or Dan Rather (CBS).
The New York Times routinely prints false information page one, then buries the retraction days later on some obscure page.
More than anything, I blame a miserably corrupt news media for the sorry state of America today. Our supposed 4th branch of gov't of, by, and for the people has betrayed us horribly.
Sorry amigo, that is not honest journalism, nor is it a news report. It's a left winger opinion piece.
The CBC is a joke from what I've seen, incredibly biased and corrupt. They can't allow Fox News there; it would be destructive to there preferred version of the news, quite biased in support of leftism. So much for free speech.
