Anyone here from the Asheville NC area who can point me in the right direction? We're headed North on the parkway now. My buddy's 1125cr ate a rear tire while down in the Robbinsville area, but it really just went south today and Wheeler's was closed.

Anyway, we also need a good shop to install. Suggestions?

PM Dragonslayer. The folks at East TN Sportriders Group might be able to help, check their site. Or Google it.

Good luck!

There's a BMW dealer in Hendersonville NC that may be able to help, but you said you were north of Asheville. I'd head east toward Statesville. Tilley's may be a good bet.

Blue Ridge is in Hickory, two towns over from Stateville and Tilley's.
For the CR rubber, most any dealer will have something to put on it.
This is in the parking lot behind an H-D dealer. Next door is a Honda dealer where I actually bought a new tire, since the H-D dealer gave me a blank look when I said I needed a 170/60ZR-17 rear tire...
Grasshopper?

Myers Ducati in Asheville might be able to help you out. They're located just south of I-40 just east of Asheville.

I was visiting the area a few years ago and we wandered around the guy's shop for an hour or so. Lots of interesting bikes- I'd guess he does tires too or at least he can point you to someplace that does.

If you make it really far up the Parkway, I'm near Winston-Salem and have tire changing equipment and can probably find a tire locally as well.

Dang Chauly, that's the scariest looking wheel removal setup I've ever seen! Did you at least tie up the front tire lever to keep it from rolling? How'd it work?

If I was in that situation, I'd be tempted to just get the caliper out of the way, then gently lay the bike down on the left side Hepco on some grass, and work that way.

Cool pic for sure!

Genius Chauly!

Do not even think about touching that stick!

Yes, a velcro strap holds front brake lever.

Cycle Sportz on hwy 70 in Swannanoa just right outside Asheville. They put tires on my Buell all the time and they've got plenty in stock. No need to go all the way out to Hickory. Blue Ridge in Hickory sucks anyway.

The stick I was using was a two-piece adjustable made of oak. It fits under the seat with small bungees, the same that are wrapped around the front brake lever.

Clever Blake and Chauly. If you are carrying the stick anyway, drill a hole in it for a long nail (and bring one). In that case, you could nail the bottom into the asphalt and anchor it even better.

Or maybe just drive a screw into the bottom of it and cut off the head... it would act like a little cleat.

And maybe a velcro strap around the top that you can use to attach it to the footpeg.

Or maybe I am over-thinking it. ; )

Guys,

Thanks for the help in this thread. We were fortunate to find some Pilot Road 3's in stock at MR Cycle...but they wouldn't install them on a Buell (no service manuals, liability). However, Meyers Ducati/Triumph's service guy was a former Buell owner and helped us out. Had to wait a bit, but they got us in which is all that matters since cord was starting to show.

Thanks everyone!

I'll be damn. I didn't know that. I take my Triumph to Myers, but haven't taken my Buell there.

They were good guys...I'd not hesitate to go there. They didn't have a clutch lever for my Speed Triple, but I won't fault them for that. Besides, then you have an excuse to head up to 80 and 226A.
