Check again...don't think he is dead. False information spreads quickly.

I may have mis-spoken! If true it is indeed a loss.

I broke down and cried . . . perhaps the closest thing my generation will see to an Einstein.

Everyone hopes to change the world, he changed the orbit of the planets.

Sad to hear.

I figured the only thing that could pry Steve Jobs out of the captains chair of Apple was imminent death.

Sad news for sure. You know its big news in the non-sporting world when it makes ESPN.com's news feed. R.I.P.

I have often thought of Steve Jobs as a kind of Erik Buell of computers. The world has lost one the greatest visionaries of all time.

“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition." - Steve Jobs

Damn.

As Billy Joel once said, "Only The Good Die Young"...

Thanks, Redbuell- you know the guy was cool if he once rode a vintage Airhead...

Rest In Peace.

Steve Jobs to John Sculley who was resisting efforts to recruit him away from Pepsi Co:

"Do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life or come with me and change the world?"

Indeed a true loss. I will always remember when my dad brought home a Mac in the 80s. Coolest thing I'd ever seen over he years not much has changed.

RIP Steve

I see Steve Jobs more like Henry Ford than Erik Buell, because Steve changed our way of life in a similar way to Henry Ford.

I was never a big Apple fanboy but had GREAT respect and admiration for Steve Jobs and Woz.
He is a true Icon in every sense of the word and will truly be missed.

Court I think a better comparison is is Edison, not Einstein. That said, Jobs was a better person and easier to work for or with.

Steve Jobs and Apple have had an incredible influence and impact on society and business.

It used to be that the consumer market followed the business market trends when it came to technology. Apple was and is one of the main drivers of business today. The old model is dead, consumer devices like the I-phone and I-pad have forced corporations to follow the consumer market and figure out how to integrate these devices into their environment. That the way folks work now.

It's the incredible forward thinking of the Steve Jobs of the world that have moved us all in this direction.

Rest In Peace Mr. Jobs, you have left a indelible mark here on this world. You will be remembered a 100 years from now as one of the true great innovators of all time. A very small and elite club.

Brad

Lets celebrate life as well. His biological parents conceived out of wedlock, and the mothers parents refused to let the couple marry. At that time, abortion was illegal. The mother went incognito to San Francisco, had the child, and put it up for adoption (where the Jobs family adopted him).

His is another wonderful life to celebrate, and my condolences to his family.
