I was out scoot'n on the Ultra and the shift linkage locked up. I got off and found a walnut had become wedged into the shift linkage and jammed the whole thing up. What are the odds?

heh! Reminds me of something that happened on my minibike when I was 12. I was putting around on a dead-end street and the throttle stuck wide open! Luckily, it was a 2HP engine and I was able to get it down to walking speed by dragging my feet. (Brakes? nope.) I shorted the kill-wire under the seat with the engine trying as hard as it can to pull. I found the problem was a dry oak leaf had become wedged in the throttle shaft. My throttle control with return spring was on the governor; the leaf was directly on the throttle! Soon, I added a kill-switch to the handlebars That little death-trap still doesn't have brakes but the kill switch has held up OK. |

Yes. Throttle is still on the gov. It used to wind out with my 80 pound butt on there. I used to waste mopeds with it. Since then, I have adjusted the gov down to 30 MPH. Besides, the engine is from 1965. I don't want it to throw its rod! |

Oooooh... an American Black Walnut! Very sweet!!! My Dad and I harvested some of these trees in my younger days. The husk will stain anything, but does a particularly great job on other woods. |
