OK, I've gotten to the end of my rope with the meats from Craigslist- some dude I spoke with yesterday turned down my price of $4300, as he "thought he couldn't turn it around and make money on it"... IDIOT. Obviously he either doesn't know any REAL bikers, can't wait until spring to gain $1K or more, whatever. I offer this to youn's- all along I'd MUCH rather sell to someone who can appreciate the bike for what it is, maybe to someone with a soul. I'd not be doing this at all, but time is getting away from us- my GF's dad has suffered a detached retina in his remaining good eye, and I'm pulling out all the stops I have to get this fixed for him, and for her. FWIW, below is the link to my CL ad, which has all the details and pics... http://knoxville.craigslist.org/mcy/2600085238.htm l Holler back, spread the word- and thanks. |

Hate to see you let go of it, but thumbs up for doing what you gotta do. |

A friend here in Oregon just sold a '77 to someone down your way for wait for it $4000. I find this ironic or at least strange.. |

Bike is still for sale- at this writing I've taken care of things via other means. However, until I get fed up with lame-O's who waste my time, it is still available for the stated price. SOB it. |

Sold. To a good ole 1%'er. Now I somehow appreciate my sole steed even better. It was fun riding that old Shovelhead, good to pass it on to someone who appreciates it. |

Congrats on your sale! I've got a '70 Shovel that I refurb'd a bit and its on the block here in LA. My price is almost double yours, though. Glad it went to a good home, and I've seen a lot of reasons for selling a bike, but yours is probably the most honorable and altruistic I've seen - well done, sir! |

"My price is almost double yours, though." Yeah Leftie- my $$$ invested in that bike was double the price I sold it for... back in the day when I bought it, I rationalized it 2 ways: 1- Since I worked for a HD dealer, might as well own a HD, bonus that it's an old Shovel... 2- Had a low interest bearing savings account, figured I'd make out OK down the line by buying, riding, and reselling the bike someday... WRONGO there, but what the heck. Didn't see the recession coming. Someday I wouldn't mind finding an old FXR framed HD, putting around on it for a bit. Realistically, if/when I get another bike I'll find an old, clean '75-82 Honda GL or another PC800 to ride the GF around on, or mebbe just a big bore dualsport. |
