I hate to say it, but it isn't worth squat. You can throw it on eBay and hope for the best, but I would rather keep it than sell it for peanuts. You can probably make more by parting it out, you should have no problem selling most of it that way to people looking to replace broken parts or upgrade cheap. |

That's what I figured, I'll probably just keep it, maybe throw a better graphics card in it and keep gaming on it. |

about 6 years ago, I saw a sign on a computer shop that said they buy used computers. So I had two good working used computers, a new hard drive, two monitors, and a printer that I wasn't using. I loaded them up in my pickup. Took up the whole front seat, hauled them in there and the guy tested them to make sure they were working. I spent over a half hour while he was messing around with all my stuff. He finally offered me $115.00 for the whole lot. I had to haul all of this stuff from my third floor townhome down and load it in my truck. It must have took me an hour to get it all to the dealer so I was disappointed and didn't really want to haul the stuff back home so I settled for $125.00. My last computer sits here in my closet and I'm not hauling it anywhere! I don't think there is any real market value for used computers anymore. |

not there isn't when folks can get one that is newer faster better etc for less than 500 for a desk top and less than 750 for a laptop. |

Disposable society is great, isn't it? I bought a new Asus laptop a month or so ago because the computer I'm on now - a six or eight year old Gateway laptop - is getting a little wonky and hiccuping more frequently. Got the Asus as a "safe haven" for my data and as an "office" computer; I'll keep the Gateway for a toy laptop and if I take long trips I bring it along so I have ECMspy with me. I did finally disassemble it and clean the keyboard contacts, so now my shift key works! But the DVD drive is dead and has been for a while, and battery life can be measured in minutes, not hours. When it dies, I won't bother trying to sell it. I'll pull the HDD so I can copy whatever files I still need, and set it up downrange. A few minutes' of 38 caliber therapy is worth more than $25 in a computer store, any day! |

its pretty crazy how fast computer technology becomes "worthless" i put just over $1000 into that setup when i built it, and now its worth virtually nothing, sad really. but that gives me an excuse to keep it, actually it has been a rock solid machine i could leave it on for days jump on black ops and not miss a beat. I probably have enough money dumped into my rig over the years that I could buy a 1190RS. It is just how life works. My rig is old and slow, I'll probably do a nice custom rig over the winter, I'll have MountainStorm do one of his crazy mods, perhaps themed after My Little Pony. |

I've had good success selling my old 'puters locally on craigslist. You have to realize, and accept, that you are not going to get what you have into it. Laptops go for about $150 and desktops for about $250. Just be happy it's not taking up space anymore and you have some extra beer money... |
