ok, so I was at best buy for a printer tonight and heard a lady talking to a salesguy about $99, one per customer...so of course I ask what its about. HP tablets, $99 each.

HM

dont need one. Not even that familiar with em. But for $99?

I'll figure out what to do with this thing!

so far its a cool new way to surf, print to my new wireless printer, and do emailwithout having to fire up the laptop. Anybody have experience with em? Or do I just have a new shiny table gadget?

oh, and how do I get badweb to save my user/password on it? Been so long with the old laptop I forget how to do that...

That's the one.

Since I'm not planning to do anything intensive...I figured $99...why not? It's a cheap gadget to play with : )

I have one as I am an Hp Reseller. Cool item for sure.

Sorry to say after HP released their earnings this week, they disclosed that the Palm/WebOS portion of their business including the HP Touchpads will be discontinued. The business will most likely be sold off to another mobile device manufacturer.

You don't have an Edsel, but similar situation. They just didn't meet the targeted goals for development and sales in the short time they were available.

Have fun with it though. For $99, it's loads better than these cheapo Andoid tabs and kindles.

I'm currently on my new toy, an Acer Aspire One netbook, it's got an AMD dual core & lots of other stuff that gives me brainfade, but it's just the right size for use in the rig.

My plan is to find a good OTR truck navigation program & a usb gps receiver, then I can use it instead of the Garmin too.

I also picked up a DVD reader/writer to watch films & burn mp3 discs for the Truck stereo.

I did consider a tablet but not enough memory.

according to a post on craigslist

"Don't buy the Touchpad for more than retail. I have a very close friend who works for HP who says they will be selling MASSIVE amounts on the website as soon as Monday. Re-sellers bought up physical inventory to hike up artificial demand, don't be a fool and fork over $250-300 when you can get one FOR SURE next week for $100/$150. Don't let the sneaky resellers get you!! "

and you can even sign-up on the hp www to be notified when they'll be available again .

hey i love gadgets but at $4-500 no thank you , however at $100-150 hell yea : )

cheers Woody

I hope you were not referring to me when you said "sneaky reseller" As HP only announced the killing of the touchpad last week. This was precisely one week after hp was selling them for $100 off on their website.

They are dumping inventory as fast as they can before selling off the WebOS portion of the business.

Don't listen to this "sneaky reseller" listen to the trade rags.
