City is a Communist sympathizer. Anything he says about either the United States or the US military is highly suspect. His only purpose on this forum is to spread dissent and to push a negative image of this country. All while praising the glorious workers' paradise of the Ukraine.
How many others can verify the bile and poisonous rhetoric that oozes from his keyboard?
While many here are ready to condemn the US military for being ready to shoot civilians, how often has it happened? Before you bring up Kent State again, that was one isolated unit of the National Guard and they were being attacked by rioting students who were throwing rocks and other objects. Why didn't the military attack and shoot the looters in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina? Or the rioters in Los Angeles during the riots there?
Mr Melonhead just wishes to shower negativity on anything American to spread fear and distrust.

NO police had "shoot to kill" orders for looters.

The dog was off the chain. No judge, no jury, no appeal. You loot and get caught, you get a bullet.

When faced with a complete lack of civility and complete lawlessness, police and NG have and do receive "shoot to kill" orders.

Google what happened in our history during the 1906 SF Earthquake. Several looters were shot.

There is precedent.

In my convoluted take on world events and our growing national choices regarding the various horns of dilemma, both social and economic, people with the broadest 'Weltanschauung,' or world view, are those who have been 'expats' (citizens living overseas) who see the mistakes of history and what it has done either to or for other peoples.

Having said that, and having been an expat, my feelings toward the US are (that) it has, indeed, been a beacon of freedom and liberty to the rest of the world. But some are wanting to make it like those other places, perhaps worse.

Survival goes to the fittest, no?

Get fit and take your chances; or believe the (already proven wrong) rhetoric spewing from Mr. Hope-a-Dope Change and cut your chances.

Perhaps I'll staple a crystal to my forehead and tai chi my way to nirvana. Or go trout fishing. Prolly' the later.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

Metra made some good points, but there's one thing that isn't consistent with what he says. He said that security is necessary to secure the stuff being stored there, hence tall fences with barbed wire. No doubt that's true in this day where people steal almost anything for scrap metal.

The thing is that having a storage area that has a high security turnstile at the entrance makes it unusable to store equipment. Also a storage facility would suffice with a simple swinging gate. Turnstiles are designed to control the passage of quantities of people. I just don't see the need for such a turnstile in a storage area.

Comments?

turnstiles are controlled access and entry, usually with card reader, or more a guard, our local naval repair yard has an identical one - again, I dont think it is an internment facility; it looks more like load on/load off - processing station.

And your paranoia is about 3, mine is closer to eleventeen.

its my understanding that although my highschool used to teach that book as a warning and a political science theory block, it was banned during the Clinton period.... Watch it in its entirety. If you are not creeped; then spend some time on the CERT page, and the Massachusets Homeland Youth Corps, or the annual Seattle 'terrorist response exercises' to train 'civilian' corps cadre in building breach, weapons tactics, and 'victim' processing.

You have NO idea what the Machine is up to.

The difference between Crazy and Eccentric ?
......Budget.
I am simply leaving the country because of the prevailing winds.

there are efforts in play to make entire floating independent nation enclaves outside of US territorial waters to avoid the government and its reach.

Latin egregius, from e- + greg-, grex herd — not running with the herd. First Known Use: circa 1534.

As a chronic malcontent, as a contrarian, as someone who has been around the block, add me to those who don't want to run with the herd.

City, you've been reading my mail. As for money, most people want to be rich. Chocolate cake is rich. Having and enjoying wealth lasts longer. Wealth is, for example, the right tools for the job. Or, experiences to draw on with which to respond to changing situations. Or, a good memory and the ability to figure things out. No, that's genius.

I've been reading a 15-year old book on the surrender of culture to technology. Interesting theories, still stand up today. When published, Marxism was decomposing. Well, overseas, anyway. Not so here. A number of thinkers, political tinkerers, high jinxers, etc., have been holding on to Marxist theory, continuing to be guided by its prescriptions and constraints. I see this. City sees this. Apparently a whole slew of others are so focused on incoming informational overload they have no time to evaluate the garbage in from media, the Web, their coworkers, relatives, cashiers at the Stop & Rob, taxi drivers, and whoever else offers opines, takes and warnings.

The masses are suffering conceptual confusion. Eccentricity makes them nervous.

Read List Recommendations -
Original sources texts. Federalist Papers, The Constitution, The Declaration of Independence -
Say what you will about Glenn Beck- but he has compiled a very thick and deep reading list on his website- you may not like the guy- but you should read the history of the country you are in- hint, it has nothing to do with Snooky or SNL.
Henry David Thoreau - Walden - my alltime favorite
For Medical Reform - How about the 'BILL' you know they didnt read it. Or for 150 years precident on how socialized medicine doesnt work Leo Tolstoy - The Kreutzer Sonata
How the disaffected 'entitlement' class is set for revolution; Marx - Das Capital, Commnunist Manifesto
Adam Smith the Wealth of Nations
The Cherry Orchard - Checkhov
Orwell - Animal Farm
Steinbeck - Grapes of Wrath
The clockwork Orange - Burgess
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Philip K. Dick
Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy - Adams
Read the books, dont watch the videos and think you got it.

and of course READ what the enemy is saying.
Jones, Sebelius, Napalotino, Obama, Ayers, Gore
because you have to read their propoganda- it is the first step to any intelligence gathering/ collection efforts.
Then WATCH critically their actions.

Your paranoia is at maybe 3, mine is way closer to eleven

Duh- it is EXACTLY what we did in Somalia
(football/soccer - same same)
A stadium makes a very nice prepositioned processing facility, good egress control, already integreted security, landing zone options for open air events

And of course the SuperDome efforts after Katrina - FEMA would never dream of using a stadium for collection, distribution, population concentration, command post....

I just noticed that the orignal release date was the the day of the October Revolution in Russia - (because they never converted to our calender - The Red October- was actually the first week in NOvember)
