If you're going to Indianapolis for the Moto GP and/or the Mile, and you need a motel room; go to Hotwire.com. We got a room at the Westin downtown for $59.00/night. We're staying in a four star hotel for less than the price of a room at the Motel 6.
Just thought I'd pass along a good deal.

Crusty and everyone:

If you will be in Indy on Friday before GP (Aug 26), please PM me. We are looking to have a huge BBQ chocked full of Buellers at one of my Buell bud's house. Then, once fat and happy, figure we will cruise down to Motorcycles on Meridian downtown (the city shuts off most of downtown for motorcycle parking, thousands of bikes).

I'll shoot you the address if you PM me.

Hope to see a bunch of Buells there.

Oh and that's a fantastic deal on the Westin. Great hotel, I work right next to it.

Okay! Tickets purchased! Hotel booked. Crusty, did not get the one you got but we got the Hilton Garden Inn in Plainfield for 51.00 dollars. We will be arriving Friday evening and will have a friend with us from New York that we met at Barber Motorpark 6 years or so ago. I think a good time will be had by all!

I'll be in Fishers, staying with a friend from Thursday-Sunday. I'll be on my way back home from an extended ride to see Mom.

Won't be on one of my Buells, though.

Go Nicky!

Crusty, sorry I haven't responded yet!

There are a ton of RV parks around Indy, and you can park an RV across the street from the track.

See: http://www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/visit/352 14-Camping/

Anyone else coming into town, please feel free to PM me. I'd love to get all of the Buellers local and out of towners together!

Camping (RV or tent) is also available at many, if not most, of the houses near the track.

we've been staying at the same place since '94, just a few blocks west of the track. we paid $40 during the Brickyard weekend, for two tents for two nights.

Camping at the speedway lot, (or the Coke lot) may be fun, but it's too crowded for me, i prefer to sleep a few blocks from the circus.

HR:

That's absolutely true. It seems like the camping crowd for the MOTOGP is a lot different then the obnoxious crowd of the 500.

If anyone needs help finding a spot, please do not hesitate PMing me. I live here, been to the speedway for hundreds of events.

And remember....don't buy parking passes. I will ask Jerry, but I think it is gate 6 that bikes enter for FREE parking on the back stretch of the raceway. (I should remember, we have parked there the past 2 years. Darned brain!)

/\ Absolutely correct.

Motorcycles get free parking and gear check along the back straight of the track.

and also different than the "i can drink more than you" crowd at the 400. it's fun to watch them drop off after a few hours of trying to keep up with my wife.

each of the three races is unique, that's one of the reasons i love the speedway. looking forward to the GrandAm race, too.

while i can't claim hundreds of events, i have been to every race this century, and declared "almost local" by a couple of the old boys in yellow down by the gate.
