Hey folks, just wanted to let everyone know that the Motus folks will be showing the MST-01 the evening of the 29th at Bumpus HD in Murfreesboro, TN at 6:00.

We'd love for any Bueller in the area who would like to come see it to come by. There will probably be food and beverages as well.

Both Brian Case and Lee Conn, the Chief Engineer and President of Motus will be there and available to ask questions.

Please make plans to come!

so let me get this straight, you can have a "touring" looking bike and a "streetfigher" looking bike all in the same bike? If so that is awesome. I would like to learn more about these motorcycles. What an interesting power plant!

Good luck and great success to Motus! GO AMERICA

Saw the Motus at NPR Ducati in Watkinsville,Ga. this morning.Way cool, amazing sound!Of course they don't have to meet EPA regs on the preproduction bikes.

They told us what a class act you folks at Bumpus are.Of course I only no Fatty.I guess he's pretty classy for a guy that rides a Cyclone.

They said that currently they are testing the GDI system but that they have also been testing a traditional FI system as well.

They will make a final determination as to which system they go with.

They said one advantage of the GDI system was no cats are requited. The downside is cost.

Fuel/spark mapping for GDI is a PITA IIRC.

Here's a picture of the motor on a stand. Notice the block off plates on the head?

Know what those are for?

B E A Utiful! This is a promising bike for the sport tourer in me. Cannot wait to hear that thing in person. What were the riders thoughts so far has anyone asked?

They're block-off plates for the water jackets. There's no left or right to these heads. That's my guess anyway.

Jim,

Lee Conn, the President and Brian Case were in Monterey, CA on Monday, Denver on Thursday, and Nashville Friday. They could walk and complete sentences. The last blast was a 20 hour jaunt straight through.

They are evidently very comfortable.

>>>They will make a final determination as to which system they go with.

When, do they have a cut off date, is the deadline to make that decision?

That date in time will tell a lot about when they could start the clock, and various certifications, moving toward production.

The motor is really good looking.

Have they committed, I'm sure they must have, to delivery dates to those who ante'd up deposits?

They are hoping to start production next year.

The current two models are GDI. They have developed and tested the motor with both GDI and FI systems. I believe they are wrapping up their tour soon to take the data back and analyze. From that data, they will determine which system is most viable. If the GDI system doesn't offer demonstrable benefits over a standard FI system, I suspect they'll go with the cheaper FI system.

A Buell and Motus dealership would be quite the thing, wouldn't it?
Headlight aside, that looks as good as anything I've seen recently. I hope it's a winner.

I really liked the seating position of the tall seat version on the MST-R. : )

I really would like to ride one, but at this point I don't think this bike is right for Barker.

I think I will have to wait on the Motus sport bike. I don't know if I will like the current geometry they have put that mill in.

My concern is the long wheelbase and rake of the bike. I have a feeling my Uly might be a better SPORT tourer for my kinda of "sport touring"

I hate to say it, but its geometry and power is not far from a Kawa-busa touring bike. The Connie 14 is very comparable except it weighs an extra 100lbs. At half the price and more farlkes I would buy that over the MST-R at this point.

MST-R wheel base = 58
Connie wheel base = 59

MST-R rake = 26
Connie rake = 26

Who am I kidding, I would probably buy another Uly or a Sprint GT.

When is the 1190 Uly coming out?

I spoke specifically to Brian about this issue.

He said that he wouldn't just change the front (although he said he could take two inches out of the wheelbase by steepening the rake angle) but would redo the entire chassis for a "sport" bike.

I believe he is and has been thinking about the next Motus model after this one.

The issue, Matt, is that you'd rather have a comfortable sport bike to tour on than a sport touring bike that handles pretty sporting. I couldn't see you on a Conny either.

You are NOT their primary target audience.

Now, when you pile on another decade, I think you'll find the MST is perfect for Barker. ; )

tru dat.

I have lots of respect for the bike and the folks @ Motus. I just think, I see me joining the Motus ownership party with a naked sportier bike a few years down the road.

Different strokes for different folks.

IMHO, I think that bike will do well. Especially if they are exporting to Europe and Australia.
