On the 17th of July I rode my Uly across the Dragon for lunch at the store. I was actually on a fishing trip to some of the lake spots near the end of the Foothills Parkway.

The photogs always shoot the traffic across the Dragon to pin up and sell the photos on their web sites.

I looked through the cruiser and adventure sections for my pictures to no avail, because after all I am going fishing, toting a small cooler, a fold up chair, and a fishing pole sticking up. The pictures had to be here somewhere.

To my amusement the BMWs, the Weestroms, Tigers, STs and all of the adventure type bikes with bags and gear are all there in the cruiser/adventure/touring groups.

Where do I find my Uly with the bags and packed like a truck?.....in with the Sport Bikes! I had to laugh. Loaded up like that it still looks so cool that they think it is a sport bike! It looked to me more like it should have been in with the Gold Wing touring bikes.

I cannot get the link to hook up, but Killboy has it Jul 17, Sport Bike pictures 356 and 357. 129 Photos has it in Sport Bike at pictures 2392 through 2399.

Any one else think the Uly is so cool that even fully bagged and loaded it screams sport bike?

Hi Ken! Thanks for dragging those in.

You all have been fooled by the Michelin Man! That is what the Pilot Road II looks like in it's 'scrubbed fresh rubber mode' from being on the Dragon. The hard rubber in the center and the soft stuff on the outsides.

That tire is no where near the wear bars yet!

My whole point was that both photogs miss categorized my bike into their Sport Bike columns. Nearly all of the other adventure sport bikes are aligned with the 'trucks and four doors' of bikes.

The nearly six year old Uly still looks so cool, even with all the crap on it(note; fishing pole, cooler, folding chair, along with the hard bags and old fat guy), that they chose to categorize it with the cooler sport bikes. Thanks again for this awesome machine Erik and the Elves!

What kind of folding chair is it?

Good pix, both of you.

Catch anything? Those lakes down there sure seem like they ought to be a target rich environment, but I don't often see people fish down there.

The Uly is a very competent all rounder.
Modern sports bikes can hose it in second gear. I just handed back a new Z1000. Jiiiimmmminyyy!
I'd still rather ride the Buell, but man, the latest batch of hyperbikes are quite phenomenal.

So Dave, do you think a Helicon would ruin a Uly? Or make it more?

Personal taste is where the thunderstorm is at - 100hp, mostly low down - rather than a revvy multi.

The Moto Morini Gran Passo is close to a Uly with 120hp and it's very tasty.

Be very interesting fo sho'

I hit some of the little side channels and fished off the docks along the lake. That pond at the end of the Foothills Skyway is a great spot. There are a lot of fish in that hole.

As things went I scouted a few spots on the way to lunch at the Dragon, but did not fish them until on the way back. That was at two thirty in the ninety five degree afternoon. I had three strikes right off but no catches. I think I was pissing them off more than they were hungry. I need to get there in the early evening or early morning.

I'm afraid that carrying a Barricade Orange cooler might raise the suspicions of a bunch of highway crews.

The Pilot Road II's have been a fantastic tire for me. I get over 11,000 on a rear. Best on any other was 6,000 on a rear.

I just put my third PR2 on my bike while I was down in NC. As near as I can figure I got somewhere between 20-25K miles on that one! The center section holds up quite well to the straight roads I have to ride most of the time. It was well worn in the center when I took off for my vacation to the twisties. By the time I had to replace it while on vacation the softer side tread was getting down near the wear bars though. I managed to use up almost the entire tire for a change. I was tempted to keep it until I got back to Chicago, but that would have been pushing my luck and got an easy replacement while near the Dragon. These tires work great for me. I may try a set of PR3 tires when this set finally wears out.
