Why didn't the dude tell the cop he was CW when the cop was searching in the back seat. The idiot had plenty of time to inform the officer. If he did, I wouldn't be typing this.

New Ohio law should be that anyone carrying a CW has to have the ability to interrupt a police officer and make it crystal clear he is carrying a weapon.

"The officer was so far out of line that he SHOULD be tried for making terroristic threats-seriously" Yea, this is true too..., but was also after the fact.

i do agree there that the guy should of just yelled he had a gun. but yet again it all depends on how the cop is feeling.

xditalx,

You sound just like a cop would. And after being told repeatedly to shut the "F" up, the guy still continued to try. Shame on him for not inviting further insult and threatened physical punishment upon himself.

F*cking a$$hole cops.... Ruining the profession for the good, honest, fair ones. Maybe this officers fellow "brethren" should give the guy a beat down for making them all look bad.

Mean-while on "my" side of the fence, we do take care of our members who step out side the lines, and are labeled thugs for doing so. Such hypocritical BS crap!

The citizen was obviously guilty of thought-crime....simple case of the Ministry of Peace seeing to the well being of it's citizens.

That goes right along there with the local case of a cop dragging a parapalegic out of the window of his car for not moving quickly enough when he was ordered out of his car....after being pulled over for having a brake light out...cop dragged the guy out and went to work on him with his night stick....the guy weighed maybe 100 pounds soaking wet, and could not walk without crutches on a good day.

Cop went to jail, where he belonged.

very unprofessional for a police officer to say he should kill you and wouldn't loose any sleep over it when you are not threatening him in any way. they should take his badge and gun. he's standing there with a bullet proof vest on a side arm a partner and you're cuffed. thats messed up

While I do not disagree that the whole thing got blown way out of proportion, and the officer was out of line and the cop has some issues. But when the dude is sitting there behind the wheel while the cop was searching the backseat... he should have put his head down with BOTH hands on the wheel, closed his eyes and repeated:
"I'M Sorry, but I am CCW!!" over and over until the officer heard it. He just spoke softly to the officer and then wimpered into the fetal position. Maybe he shouldn't be able CCW after all?

I have no experience with it at all so don't take offence to my NRA ignorance. I have held various pistols in my hand, a tommy gun and a 12g shotgun but have only shot from a 50cal musket and a 10g shotgun.

The guy tried to tell the officer. Those idiots didn't even ask driver for identification before poking around in his car with him inside. Big time mistake on their part. Having said that no one goes through the hassle of getting a ccw so they can shoot cops.

If you're gonna carry, it's SIMPLE.

"Here is my license, and here is my carry permit. I am/am not currently carrying at this time. I am happy to hand over my weapon if you like, for the duration of our conversation here".

BEFORE you let go of the licenses into the LEO's hands.

I have friends who are LEOs...and there are a lot of douchebags who are LEOs. Regardless...they have enough to worry about. WHY make it HARDER for them, when the solution is as simple as two sentences???

Correct me if I'm wrong...
In Ohio
You can NOT have a gun within reach of you when you are driving
The gun needs to be locked up
The ammo need to be in a different location

If a business has a picture of a gun with a red slash thru it on the front door, its a felony it you carry your gun into that business... every place I go has that sign... the bank... my local dealer... the grocery store... so whats the point of getting a CCW if every place you go... you can't carry

what I don't get is the cop should have known he had a CCW as soon as he ran his plate

Surely the officer has a very good reason to scream and yell at the driver?

Both parties are wrong but the officer needs a little time off. It's actually quite embarrassing. Most of the LEOs I know are very good citizens and equally good at their job.

The cops job is to be professional, and he wasn't. He blew it. Normally I'd say everyone is entitled to an off day, but this was enough over the top that his career in law enforcement should be over. He's simply not the right man for the job, though I wish him well in some other role.

I could be carrying a rocket launcher in a car, and that doesn't give the right to a cop to threaten death and injury upon me. I would sincerely like to hear anyone at all who thinks that behavior should EVER be tolerated from an officer of the law.

IMHO, he should be in jail, no excuses. Not to mention the completely unprofessional way in which the whole "traffic stop" was conducted.

Last I checked, you clear a car of passengers before search it, at least that is how it is done in the military.

The constant threats kept the defendant at bay from explaining he had a ccw, he was HOLDING his ccw papers! Though I must admit he probably could have done it better, how can you possibly say you would have reacted in the best possible way. He was under stress, being cut off, and told not to speak. They never got his identification.

Corrupt cops are bad. It is bad enough that cops have so much power, people like this should not be allowed to hold a water gun.

CW permit holders go through a pretty thorough background check and a mini school not unlike a first time rider does a riding course, except it is mandatory and it takes less time. The person can skate out of there being the same idiot he was when he went in.....but able to legally carry a loaded concealed weapon. IMHO it is not enough training, more a rubber stamp to make the money, I mean what the hell, they got his address and his record is pretty clean.

Back when I did my course, there were folks in the class who were just totally clueless about their choice of weapon, how to handle it, what to do with it even when not under duress, and surely not a person to be around if a problem of any sort would arise. To be clear it was an Officer of the law who let these people pass their shooting test, when the officers did not even want to be on the target range with them. Just STUPID.

I would not recommend ever toting a known prostitute into her home territory with a CW, that really is stupid.....unless you are a Senator or Congressman.

As for that officer, I would think he would have to be concerned for his life BECAUSE of his irrational behavior, his judge, executioner, and god complex a citizen with a permitted weapon would likely not spend more than a night in jail for putting him down after the unnecessary verbal threats to one's life. His behavior put him so over the top that I, myself as a potential weapon carrier, would be concerned as to whether he was really an officer of the law or an imposter about to take an innocent out to murder him.

I could see a double tap to the forehead just to get him to calm down enough to quit threatening my life, at some point during that video I believe it may have become justified.

Sometimes when two stupid people meet they cannot make anything seem to work right.
