this video shows Chad Reed crash during a motocross race. What was the most amazing is that he finished the race!

Blake edit to include direct link to video, bypassing annoying web page. : )

I'll bet no dirt made it up his arse when he landed.

I watched the video a few time. He had enough hang time to think about how he was going to land. Watch him. He's consciously positioning himself. I would not have had the presence of mind to do much more than think "this is going to hurt", or maybe "Please God, not like this".

I bet you anything that had he landed on a flat surface and not the incline... it would have been MUCH worse. I've come down really hard with military parachutes before and there's nothing like smacking the ground with all that lateral speed built up.

I think you are spot on Hoot with his preparation before impact. Not much you can do but he did keep his feet spread and knees bent. I'm sure the gear he was wearing also helped.

Wow... just incredible.

My son was at the race, said it was one of the scariest things he ever saw. Reed finished 14th out of 40 riders, now thats what I call an athlete!

I remember watching that last week on Speed and thinking there is NO way he is getting back up from that..

Never been a Chad Reed fan b/c of the dirty tricks he like to play while racing, but i think ever since he lost his sponsorship, it has humbled him and he is racing better then ever right now. He has a real good shot at winning the motocross championship this year out of his own pocket.

I don't see the cop impersonator out there riding with is own money.

The huffington post page is beyond annoying.

Here's the video absent all the irritating ads and facebook nonsense...

Even the riders behind him looked, as if they were thinking "dang, thats gonna hurt" Wonder how he felt the next morning.
