I don't have to tell you it is hot and dry in many parts of the US. That goes for my neck of the woods here in Texas too. It has been as dry as I can remember. Dry to the point we don't worry about the condition of our lawns, we're just trying to save some of the trees and wildlife. We've had a number of fairly large wild fires close by and ranchers and farmers are in a bad way. But late yesterday we got some surprise relief, an unexpected thunderstorm blew though and gave us forty minutes of steady rain. Here's the most interesting part, after about five or ten minutes of rain I noticed many of my neighbors outside either standing in or watching the rain from shelter. And after watching and feeling that rain for a bit, many began to cheer and shout for sheer joy. Some were praying. The shouting and cheers carried from block to block. Twenty minutes later I could still hear cheering in the off distance. Thank God for rain and grateful neighbors. |

Here in western WA we do the same thing when the sun comes out. We've had only two days over 80 degrees this summer and I've been rained on two of the three rides I've been on this week. Extreme weather sux....... |

A Navajo once said that songs are written about what we do not have enough of... he said the white man only sings about love and all we sing about is water... |

It's been hot here in Chicago in July with the occasional violent storm. However before that it seemed like it rained every other day. |

After a long, HOT, HUUUMID and miserable week, it just now started raining here... I turned off the hi-fi just to listen to it. Now, the garden will be ready to produce a whopper of a crop of tomatoes and peppers, even some OKRA hopefully! After today, chances of rain dwindle but it won't get much hotter than 90- until the first of the week kicks in. Yeesh... |

I wish we could send you our rain!! We are flooding everywhere here. And still have like 52" of snow pack in the mountains. Every 30 years we have some terrible flooding. |

We had a sink hole here that opened up the highway in 5 minutes. And i guy and his daughter crashed into it and it killed his daughter. He drove down the same road 5 minutes earlier and it was not there. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2011-07-14-uta h-sink-hole-death_n.htm?csp=34news |
