Obama has been saying this lately. I am a simple engineer with a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and it sounds like a tax cut to me. But it ain't. It is purely Orwellian. We do not need Communists like this in our government and it blows my mind that any rational human being would ever vote for this "Community Organizer." Discuss. | ||

Unfortunately the current crop of Republicans that are going to go against him next year do not stand a chance to beat him unless something radical changes. The liberals, black and hispanic vote account for over 50% of the votes in states that have the most electoral college votes. The math has already been done and it will be almost impossible for him to lose just like what happened in 2008. | ||

Philosophically, "lowering the spending in the tax code" means that the government believes it owns ALL money and wealth. This unarguably IS a Communist idea. "Spending" in this context, means that the government allows you to keep more of the government's assets by the government's good grace. Lowering spending is nothing but a Bizarro World way of saying that taxes are raised because the government "spends" less. I thought this Thing in the White House just agreed to extension of Bush Tax Cuts just several months ago. The White House sneers and has a disdain for the American People. This 1984 style thinking of Obama is insidious. | ||

I live in one of the highest taxed places on the planet. 3rd place county for taxes in NY....which makes us just shy of Monaco. ( I think Court lives in #2. Explains a bit, eh? ) In the time since the current Prez was elected Senator...then Prez, he voted for or signed off on more spending than in the history of the planet. I do however have to give GWB a slam on that score.. he signed off on the spending Obama and Co. voted for, so he deserves credit. BHO spent more in 1 year than GWB did in 8. ( he did have help ) Unemployment has risen or remained flat since BHO was elected Senator. He, like his predecessor, involved us on 2 new wars. ( to be fair, the Yemen Front, like the Iraq & Afghan fronts, are really one war...} Libya is apparently a "kinetic military action" that required no approval, and seems to be a means to kill as many civilians as possible while keeping Gaddafi in power, while complaining about him and stealing his money.... You'd have to ask Barry if that was his intent...he won't tell us. BHO also "strengthened" the "Patriot Act" which, while I think has a few good points, is generally a bad thing. And, while he won't send captured terrorists to Gitmo, it's still in business, and the terrorists are not treated nearly as good in the "rendition" countries that he sublets the "interrogations" to. ( a policy started under Clinton...to be fair. ) Now, that's just life, death, assassination, war, lies and general fun. What angers those who actually pay attention, is that one one day the Prez tells us that ( and I paraphrase ) cutting one dollar from his Holy Budget will lead to storms, floods, old folk and children being slaughtered en masse. Then a few days later he calls for fiscal responsibility. But. There is NO Budget. The D's decided that actually telling us what they spent was a bad idea during an election year. So they came up with the idea of spending as much as they wanted to, without one. ( and it's actually the law that they do a budget. Unlike most of the idiocy they do do. ) So with spending 30-70% higher than the year before...each year... telling us that we can't cut any is a bit bogus. Then you get the marx/alinsky class envy speeches, which are a steady theme used by the Prez. Those "corporate jet owners" so lovingly held up to be an object of hatred? The tax break he accuses them of abusing comes from his own "stimulus". He's also accused doctors of needlessly sawing off limbs to make a quick buck...... I ran a few text searches of our current Prez's speeches, and find that if you substitute a certain religion for "fat cat"..... you get hits from 1938-44 that sound very much the same. Someone using such techniques to manipulate people has long historical context. ( See link above ) Using hate to gain power has a long tradition. And without exception, those who do so are evil. | ||

Hell no, we are not nuts. We are mad as no Hell has ever seen. The government defaulting on its obligation is one of the worst things I can think of but without the beginnings of fundamental change, it is better to do it now rather than foist it on the next generation. This is a time for war if the Leftists in the federal government don't stand down. We are on the road to dictatorship if we don't change our irresponsible monetary policy. Liberalism, Progressivism, and Socialism are failed theories. They lead to decay and decline. Raising taxes, growing the government, and Obamacare will throw us into a systemic Depression. This Bastard in the White House demonizes those who create and incites class and racial warfare. The overwhelming burden of regulations suppresses what made us great. No one is going to invest when the government threatens it. Obama cut a deal to extend the Bush tax cuts for two years which is a total farce. He lasted for what, six months? Wake up. The solution is obvious. Conservatism is the ONLY answer. The Left is now calling us Suicide Bombers and Terrorist Organizations and I thought I was just a bagger of tea. Cute. I'm with Dave on this one. I lean right and I don't agree with much that Obama has done, but you guys are working yourself into an unhealthy frenzy. You say the left is dangerous, and then in the same breath say "to arms." As far as American Exceptionalism- that isn't some right inherent to us cause we were born here. At one point America was the paragon of civilization due to it's infrastructure, military, and especially our manufacturing. Most of that is gone now, we have sold that which made us powerful. Now we just happened to be born in a place that is easier to live and succeed than most countries, but not all. If you want to be exceptional, work for it. It's not easy anymore. | ||

Xbniner, It is the freedom to innovate and the reward for success that makes America great. It spawns entire new industries where America takes the lead for a generation. The loss of manufacturing was inevitable in an emerging Global economy. We now compete with our brains and even that race is getting faster. The ONLY way to stay ahead is to unleash the private sector with targeted seeding by the government. This is philosophically an IMPOSSIBILITY with Socialist,Progressivists, and most (but not all) Democrats. IMPOSSIBLE. The Detractors amongst us have gained power by promoting victimhood and class division. That is a losing proposition for America. Repeat after I get off the teleprompter: "The millionaires and the billionaires with their corporate jets...." Trotsky would be saying this if he was still alive. As an aside, it is ironic who has the biggest, baddest "corporate" jet in the Universe. Don't fool yourself.
