Of course it went up. Planning a big ride tomorrow. The oil companies know when you want to do something. |

$3.69 for the (*)smart stuff. (*) Non ethanol that cost less per mile to use, regardless that it costs more at the pump. |

hmmm. 1.35 Great British Pounds per litre here. 1 US gallon = 3.78541178 litres, so £5.11 per US gallon £1 = US $ 1.6029 = 8.324688315987 per US Gallon hope i got my maths right (Message edited by Mtch on July 10, 2011) (Message edited by Mtch on July 10, 2011) |

My XB gets 50 mpg on a daily basis. If it gets to be too much, I'll get a motard. A well set-up 400cc will get ya around 60+. A 250cc will get ya about 70+. They can charge whatever they want................ |

I was thinking about this yesterday actually Gas prices had been dropping the last month, then in the last week they started creeping back up. A week ago it ws down to 3.36, now its up to 3.52ish I was wondering the same - why? There hasnt been a natural disaster they can complain it on. There hasnt been a war that popped up and they can blame it on. I think they'll finally do what they always wanted - raise it cause they can. Bastards. |

Brief price decline due to putting some of our security reserves into the market. Not as dumb as "cash for clunkers", but a short term effect. If a greater supply of oil for the market is understood to bring the price down, (D'UH) then the old false argument that ANWAR oil would have no effect is proved false. At a time of troubling uncertainty in the Middle East and N. Africa, hostilities raging all over the place there, hey let's deplete our security reserves! I fear, I actually really fear that we have traitors running our country. They have fought to reduce our domestic production (Gulf of Mexico), and have succeeded. They have fought to prevent new exploration and production (ANWAR, deep water, other offshore USA), and have succeeded. It makes zero sense to me. The anti-domestic oil policies kill existing jobs, block new jobs, and inflate the price of oil. What am I missing? |

How come a lot of oil wells are idle in the Western states? Broke down? Pumped dry?........or holding out on us to keeps the price up? |

It has been a long time plan of our fearless leaders to use up the rest of the planet's oil leaving us with all of the remaining oil. That is why they want to kill us. |

ziptab, It costs more to extract from old fields than from new finds. Oil wells may not be running if the cost to extract the crude exceeds the price they can get for it. When oil is $$ enough, the wells may start back up, unless the field is, in fact, dry. |

The price of crude is elevated more than enough to support pumping all you can form existing wells most anywhere in the world, even here. Some older fields just won't support continuous pumping, here in East Texas for instance. |

Not if you are in it for max profit - as long as it's cheaper elsewhere... but hey - I'm no oilman. What do I know :-) |
