Just read an article on the Casey Anthony trial and while that is sad in many ways, I think the more sad thing was a comment from one of the spectators: "Among the trial spectators was 51-year-old Robin Wilkie, who said she has spent $3,000 on hotels and food since arriving June 10 from Lake Minnetonka, Minn. She tallied more than 100 hours standing in line to wait for tickets and got into the courtroom 15 times to see Anthony. "True crime has become a unique genre of entertainment," Wilkie said. "Her stories are so extreme and fantastic, it's hard to believe they're true, but that's what engrosses people. This case has sex, lies and videotapes — just like on reality TV."" From this article: http://www.mail.com/news/us/539842-casey-anthony-c leared-murdering-young-daughter.html#.7518-stage-h ero1-10 I don't see the need that someone who is not a member of the press would have to travel and stand in line for this type of "entertainment". I suggest that there is something seriously wrong with this type of person. Bad enough that I clicked on the link to read about it, but $3000 and a month of time could be much better spent in many ways. |

I was in the break room at work when they introduced the guy that said he found the body. I looked at everyone in the room and said," They won't get a conviction." I think he was involved. And should have been in her seat. |

I guess this help to explain the fights that would break out outside the courthouse. I really don't think it's a good idea to televise trials. |

I'll be honest - just as disturbing as a woman, and others like her, that spend thousands to be at a trial that she has no personal connection to is how caught up in that stuff people are. Yall might think worse of me, but why does anyone care about this? I mean, people that have ZERO connection to the family - why do you care so much? I was in class today and there are about 20 people in the class, half of them had CNN up on their computers and were so interested. I dont get it. |

Been on the news off and on for 3 years with no outcome, people want justice served properly, here we get to see it unfold in realtime. I watched most of the trial on tv,... was very interesting imo, boring at times ... not unlike like boring low scoring baseball or hockey game. (scratch that, Hockey can never be boring) Why are stadiums full? Watching the closing arguments made me wish I chose a Law career. |

>>Yall might think worse of me,<< I'm with you. I already know the world is full of millions of drop-kicks. No need to study them. I turned the TV off 20 years ago. Only turn it on for sports now. Much happier person. |

I can understand young lawyers (or in training) hanging on every word because I bet the court proceedings were something that will be taught in law schools for years to come, but for any normal person I just do not understand. |

I do see your point, but then again, you have a motorcycle to ride... most of these folks you speak of do not. I am a victim of circumstance,... I would never ever catch myself watching any of those so-called reality shows, Big Brother, Survivor, Bachelor, Bachelorette... but my gf wants to watch tv.... "together" while eating dinner. So.... I did it for the cookie. I also thought it'd be dumb to watch Poker on tv, I do that now too. (to learn) But...., being unemployed helps alot. |

If I'm watching TV, I watch Discovery, Science, NatGeo, or any type of learning, educational or informative show. I avoid reality shows all together. I have noticed that people that watch reality shows tend to avoid Discovery, Science, NatGeo, or any type of learning, educational or informative show. weeeeird........:/ |

I remember when MTV came out... before it had commercials... and Madonna was cool... Now 80% of tv is worthless... and you have to pay for it. That said I can't wait to pick up my hi def tv and get cable hooked up at the new place. |

This is true, my gf doesn't like watching Discovery channel, Science channel, NatGeo, etc etc. She does watch travel shows and home rebuilding shows (then rags on me about fixing something or going somewhere) |

HD is beautiful, you will love it. Some of the best scenery is Discovery channel, Science channel, NatGeo and the travel shows. Watching sports and AMA is awesome!! |

Yep. Speaking of a sad state of human reality, my brother put it in pretty good phrase. "You know society is going downhill when we can kill an unborn baby but the potus can step in and stop a convicted felon from receiving the death penalty." Not pushing anything political, i just liked the way he put it. |

"Never seen a reality show . . never seen American Idol, the Apprentice, Mob Wives or Jersey Shore . . . they must be great." Me either. Just finished serving as a juror on a federal case two weeks ago. It was enough idiotic "reality" to last me the rest of my life thank you. G |

Going on the 'reality' show stuff - why do people think so highly of these folks? They have no talent, just got picked to live in a house or go on dates or something. I can understand liking a certain singer or band because of their skills and talents, but liking some guido just cause they are on tv makes no sense to me |

I agree with the OP's title. My GF said this case had been going on for 4 years... THANK GOD I don't pay attention to this GD BS. |

The number of people that are outraged by this is amazing. I posted a thought on my facebook, wondering if the D.A. didn't prove his case beyond a reasonable doubt or if there were simply facts that the public was not aware of. I actually had someone reply that "reasonable doubt has no place in a murder trial". WTF? People are stupid. The media has them so convinced that she did it, they are willing to change the basic rules our courts have operated on for centuries just to make sure she gets convicted. |

I'm with you Double D, we've been without TV for years now. The only thing I miss about it is, well, if I missed it, I'd have it back on. Ann and I were wondering the other night, what things would be different if we had it still on. Nothing good I believe. |

Oh, and I do watch the Cable Music channels occasionally. Usually when I'm sick of my playlists and need some new vibes. |
