Well it's been a while since I traded off my Buel Cyclone, and as the horse trader that I am, I got antsy for a Sporty again. I'v had my fill of Buells. Some will relate, it don't really matter either way. It's an 06 883 with 2K on the clock, all custom metalflake paint drag pipes and apes. Actually it's a well sorted out 883, and looks good. Oh I know it's nothing to get excited about compared to alot of Sportys out there, but cripe, I'm now almost 60 years old, and my ya ya days are squeezing on down to cruiser moments. So anyway it's been about a year and a half since I;v been riding, and here in NC in the heat of summer, it's a big cooling fan for me, my AC. lol. All's I need to do is get some tapers and put them on the drag pipes that it has, I like quiet..ish more than obsene loud straight drags. Well BWB has went through some changes over the last couple years since Buells demise, but alot of you are still riding it looks like. So if you go blazing past a metalflake green sporty with apes, it was probably me...

Good luck with it not my cup of tea I would have opted for a bonneville or even an enfield before a sportster but to each his/her own. Before I ever get a sportster I'll get a tuber comfy and light with better brakes compared to a sporty again good luck

I'm now almost 60 years old, and my ya ya days are squeezing on down to cruiser moments.

Having just turned 60 myself a couple of days ago, I can relate. Somehow, I'm just not in that big of a hurry anymore. My old shovel and my '96 Road Pig are fast enough to get me in all the trouble I need, and they're comfortable enough to ride all day.

To each his own Richard(Gohot) but I turned 70 on the 19th of June and still am on the very best street bike I have ever owned, my 1125R, and I do not drink coolaid. Living near these Utah canyons I still enjoy carving them up almost every weekend. I believe the secret is, if there is one, is staying active, healthy and fit to be able to have good endurance and great reactions for riding. Ego, maybe but I ride mostly with the younger guys, 30-40 who enjoy mixing it up safely and that helps keep my competitive spirit going. Still I AM feeling a 200 mile ride more every day so who knows how much longer but I enjoy it enough to STAY FIT and keep canyon carving for now. A picture of a short stretch of where I ride below. Bob

I do like it, you dont see too many Harley Davidsons in Green from customizers, for a long time it was considered 'bad luck'
(probably because anyone that got killed on a Harley in WWII had the extreme propensity of being on a GREEN Harley)
I have always liked the Sporty.... but had I know Buell first? no contest
Bueller !

Yep, I just turned 59 and keep telling myself it's time to relax and enjoy the view. Went to the bottom of Kings Canyon NP last weekend and about 1/4 the way there decided I'll slow down next year.

Now I'm no speed demon squid but if I see a car three turns up ahead of me I know I'll eventually catch up so why not get it over with? The sooner the better, right? I mean, the nerve of that guy - driving on my road!

BTW, sporties are cool. I actually went to the HD dealer to look at one when I spotted the Uly.

Ride the livin' hell right outta that Sporty . . . all I much care about is that you're happy and enjoying riding.

Bob . . I love that photo of the road ! !

I can ride my Uly for days on end and remain comfy. It's by far the best all around bike I've ever ridden.

I kinda got lost today . . rode several hundred miles for gear lube. . . pulled up in front of a Harley store . . couldn't do it . . rode off . . rode home and ordered from Amsoil.

That gave me one of those soft, warm, feel good chuckles.
Six months ago I was still disgusted with H-D for what they did to Erik and the Elves.
Now I'm really happy for Erik and kinda starting to feel sorry for H-D.

It's the best thing that has ever happened to Erik and The Elves.

In the big scheme of things . . . .Harley, with no intention, design or forethought, could not have done a better thing . . and more importantly. . their timing was perfect. A year earlier would have been way too early . . . a year later would have been way too late.

Good things are meant to be.

Good news of a couple more bike sales yesterday . . . .
