does anyone know of any companies that buy smart phones and refurbish them? i have an iPhone 3gs 16g and want to get rid of it, i would just put it on Craigslist l or ebay but to be honest i have been pretty rough on it, the exterior dinged up and there are some minor scratches on the screen. everything on the phone works great i just don't want to sell it to an individual and have it shit out on them after they get it. thanks in advance.

You get more money if you do it in store and get store credit. Do yourself a favor though. Do the online estimate and them print off the price they are willing to give and take it into the store with you. Dont let some wanabe geek decide how much you get for the device.

According to the website, it's worth $132 in fair condition if you have everything that goes with it.

I've sold 3 iPhones on eBay, now - first was a 16GB white 3G about a year ago and got $250 for it. Just recently I sold two 8GB 3G's (I can't recall if they were S models or not) and got about $190-ish for each. One was in noticably better shape than the other, but they went for teh same price. In the condition you describe, I'd bet you could get about $150 for it on eBay, or better.

i'd get the exterior swapped by a repair place - $ depend on how bad it's beat up.

unlock it, then craigslist or ebay for a premium. The 3GS is still pretty desirable by us "wanabe" geeks! hehehe.

GL!

Do not sell it back to a store. I sold 2 16G iPhones 3G's (NOT 3GS's) about 6 months ago for $200 each on craigslist. I did nothing to clean either of them up although neither was all that bad.
