Hey all- I just got back yesterday from visiting my folks in Nashville, finally took home a few of the last things my Mom left me when she passed a couple of years ago: several heirloom quilts. They were left to her by my grandmother, in turn probably left to her by my great-grandmother- they could and probably do go back three generations at least. My mom and stepdad had kept them stored in cardboard boxes in the house for years- I have not yet opened the first one. My folks came from Smith county TN, just east of Carthage, and thereabouts. I'm sure these quilts were made there- sadly all of the old-timer folks in my family are long gone. Anyone here have knowledge about this stuff? I'll be calling some local folks who specialize in quilts, but I figured there would be some peeps here who could help enlighten me. Thanks! | ||

J. Sorry about your mom . I think you should do some searching in your area to get what info you can . If at all possible ,keep them for your kids. Most quilts were personal to a family or community at the time . May be a good time to find your roots . Good luck |
