I second Buell/Jeep (would it be a Juell or a Beep?) Jamboree!! 1999 TJ, owned since 2004 ... 3" on 33's which is plenty fit the wheelin' I do (Rausch Creek). Bedlined and made the front bumper out of 3/8" plate. AEV hood was an insurance freebie when a chunk of ice flew off a box truck and ended its journey on my stocker!

Not much in the Forest...they REALLY frown on Muddin' n such...but there is (or was) a really cool private rock quarry near the speedway I went to a few times for my rock crawlin' fix.

We have a couple of good size pay per use rec areas down this way that are good muddy fun...I sold the Mighty MJ last year so now it's no mud for Harry.

Well, crap, youn's are getting my jones up for a dirtbike...

Vern, hate to say, but I've never been to Royal Blue despite having heard many tales about it- I'd love to get a DR or Yammie D/S bike with a big fuel load, and whatever else I'd need to head up there...

(I know, I'm not talking about Jeepin', realistically I could pull a D/S bike, have been wanting one for a LONG time now...)

Well do it Brad! I have gone wheelin' with a mix of Jeeps, trucks, four wheelers, and dirt bikes. We all rode at our groups pace, stopped to watch each other in the tough spots, and met at designated places for lunch and such.

It seems like the Jeep gets farkled more than the Buell does. When I started out with this one 13 years and $7,000 ago, it was on 31's with a 4" suspension mount lift. Then it did several years on 33's with another 2" spring lift on AMC /Jeep axles. That was all with a 400 Chevy with the Jeep/Ford four speed manual that I adapted with my own bellhousing mods. I made drive shafts with 2" heavy wall square tubing.

This round the 400 will still be in there with a TH400 auto and the GM transfer case. I am going to chevy 1977 heavy duty half ton axles. I haven't decided on 35's or 38's yet. I think that will depend on my ability to get in and out of it. With 33's the floor pan is 32" off the ground. A few more inches might make me dizzy or have nose bleeds!

WV Buell Rally is my goal for having it rolling again.

And this is the one (92 Cherokee) that I was going to "leave stock"....

Bought it for $400, replaced the #1 piston (and oil pump and rear main seal while I was in there). 222,000 miles 4.0/automatic, runs like a CHAMP. The wheels and tires are from work, they are off a Coleman E3 popup camper.

Stock:

And now, after a budget lift (2" helper springs in back, 1.75" spacers up front):

Next is putting in an OEM gauge cluster. Right now, it's a fleet truck. Speedo and a HUGE gas gauge, and idiot lights for everything else. With 222k on it, I want GAUGES so I bought a cluster off eBay with tach, oil pressure, volts, and temp gauges. $16. Just have to roll up the mileage to match, or figure out how to swap counters (I'm proud of 222k!).

Stock. Heh. I should know myself better by now.

How's the 3" for driveshaft vibration? I didn't want to go too high because I didn't want to have to mess with U-joints or SYE kits just yet.

And I did finally get that OEM cluster in. Changed 2 senders on the engine, and I now have full information. Gotta love a 225k mile engine that has 50 psi of oil pressure...at a HOT idle!! : ) It looks like it even has a LFL in there...I'm stoked!

I selected the 3" because I leaned that I could do the 3" without having to extend brake line, install SYE kits, extend my control arms, and all that other stuff that you might need to do when going big. My driveshaft is fine, no vibration at all most of the time. Very slight vibration only occasionally for a very small amount of time. I don't believe it will cause any problems for me.

Anybody got action photos of what they do with their Jeeps??

A lot of mine are on VHS tapes, I took these pictures from the TV screen(heck I don't have the equipment to transfer formats and all that). Sorry about the low quality, but they look cool on video.

Twisting over sharp rocks.

Taking flight in my back yard.

Gone vertical with air.

Cool truck. Not very flexy, kind of like a go cart or a tank, light enough to not need it. I'm surprised at no lockers though. It must climb well with the wheels at the ends like that. Nice job.

My Jeep would have all four tires on the rocks in a crevice like that. It is not locked either.

It does have lockers now. Its actually pretty flexy, its just sitting at that balance point. Your looking down on it. That is my current street rig and it was a budget build.

These are some of my earlier generation ones.

Calm down Mark!

Catching air with a V8 on five inches of lift can cause the end result to be a three inch lift in the front! It also took out the rear drive shaft when it went straight up that ninety degree edge and landed back on the rear tires then the front fell to bend the springs. It was awesome destruction! It did not break until the third time I did it.

Not unlike abusing a bike.....expensive decisions can be made with ease.

If your rig does not reek of spilled beer and gear oil....you are not doing it right.

I used to carry a BluePoint U-joint tool and 2 complete sets of u-joints, spare yokes and axles...I broke a lot of parts ; )

Hey Mark, remember when I mentioned trailering the Jeep?

That is why I did/do my "air" stuff in the back yard. Much easier if it is within dragging distance of the shop.
