My '91 FLT... is currently marking it's spot in the parking lot, as near as I can tell the oil spooge is dripping out of the air cleaner. I assume this issue is similar to what my M2 used to do, but since I haven't gotten into the FLT yet I figured I'd just ask here first.

Is this most likely like my M2, and if so can I just pull the air filter assembly and re-route some breather lines to cure the drippage?

I still haven't fixed the charging problem on the S2, and the M2 needs a front tire due to age and ozone cracking, so I'm on the bagger. I'm going to throw a bag of cat litter in the side bag until I can get the wrenches out.

Thanks for any input, been a long time since I've worked on a bigtwin.

It's an Evo.

They do that.

I had a 96 FLHP that I rode the pi$$ out of for about 45k miles. Built the motor myself, into a 90hp/90tq (at the wheel) 80". If I held higher revs (like, consistent 4k or above)...yep, breather bath.

The way I saw it...cleaning the saddlebag after longer rides was a LOT cheaper than a six speed to keep the revs down!

Just keep in mind...re-routing the breather lines doesn't "cure" the drip. It just *relocates* it : )

Okay, thanks, cat litter it is then (for now at least).

You need a "Spoogerator"

Get a smallish glass jar type thing, holes in the lid, one pipe in & one out.

When it gets half full empty it out.

I hung mine off the battery strap on the M2.

That spoogerator will be phase two.

I'll keep an eye open at local thrift shops for an appropriate container.

Mike, I forgot you had the FLT!
I've got an 82 in the garage right now. Interesting piece of HD history.
It's not mine, just here for a visit. No spark... bad module..
Boy they sure a bit on the crude side... fit and finish is non existent compared to these days..

Yeah, mine's got cruise control, an occasionally functional am/fm/cassette radio with a weather channel, and a works when it wants to CB radio (no mic though). I've thought about removing the CB and updating the radio on it, but it is so integrated into the bike's wiring including being wired to the handlebar controls that I just gave up on that idea. As long as the weather channel works I'll live with it.

I'd been watching for one as a two-up bike, local shop got it in on trade a few years ago and I happened by before they shipped it out of state for auction like most of the local dealers do with older trade-ins so they don't hurt their newer bike prices. I then sold off the Ventura rack from the M2, still not sure that was a good idea but no going back now.

Whoa,

these are not like, judgements, or anything.

blowby culprits! yea thats it.

check your oil when its absolute hot. Pull over on that off ramp off the e way right quick thats got a safe spot kill the motor, wait for it to drip down like minute and a half maybe at the most if its good and hot then check your oil level. That helped me with blow by issues.

you could look into a crank breather valve I think s&s makes them, I know for twin cams, not sure for evos.

Just saying, I did that a couple of times and got results without a catch-cantraption.

Even though my 95 road sofa held a claimed 4 qts of oil, anything over 3.5 would blow out through the air cleaner. I learned to run with just 3.5 qts.

Mike, Rat is right about the evo thing it just happens (60 year old tech ) oddly enough I have heard a tech i worked with say the same thing about the pad ( monthly type if ya know what I mean) in the bottom of the cover keeps it from leaking all over your engine.

Brad - define "module" - ignition box? If its the same as my old 96, I think I still have the stocker I pulled off when I converted to single-fire...have to dig though...

Sorry - I can't offer anything other than Bagger Spooge sounds like a Mark Twain character.

He would be the laconic biker dude with life perspectives gained from owning an AMF.

If anything the oil level is a bit low, but I'll check it in the morning.

Back in Clemmen's day I'd think Bagger Spooge would have rode a three legged Mule.

This weekend I'll try to find the time to crack open the a/f cover and look at rigging up a Tampon trap. Might even come in handy for tailgators on the freeway, The Bagger Spooge TailGator Repeller.

Rat, I'm not sure they are the same or not.
Yeah, the wondrous black box. Not too much to these ignition systems. A cam pickup, a coil and the "black box", that's about it..
I've already got one on order but thanks much for the offer.
