+1 on the bird dog routine.
My friend and I call them "stalking horses"

Never be the fastest guy on the highway.
Third fastest guy never gets a ticket.

Another fabulous thing in my area is known as a "Rhode Island Roadblock".
Everyone drives 5 under the speed limit shoulder to shoulder for dozens of miles, allowing no one to pass.

I don't like the campers either, but I think that I take the offensively defensive approach to driving. If you're making progress or staying out of the way, then no problem, have a nice day. But if you are too timid to pass and just hang out beside another car and don't know what the mirrors are for then get off the road.
If I'm doing 75 and am passing steadily and somebody is in a bigger hurry than me then I'll move over the first chance I get and let him go. But don't scream up behind me in your BMW or Vette at 90 and immediately flash your lights at me! I'll give you the right of way, just give me a chance. Then they become my bear bait. I've happily passed off a dozen tickets to my bait over the years.
I'm licensed to drive anything from a motorcycle to overweight hazmat in triple trailers so there isn't much you can tell me about driving. But to me, each one has it's own set of rules...and courtesies! And (knocking on wood) I've never done more than bend a bumper. And I've lived/worked in the Balt/DC metro-globolis for 10 yrs now, the ultimate test of patience.

Oh, and Richard isn't the King for no reason.

Given your attitude, is that surprising?

Like I stated before, wasn't my fault. No way I could have prevented it. Just like every other thread we can come up with a zillion scenarios to play out. I constantly watch my mirrors and if a man rushing his pregnant wife to the hospital (happens every day, I know) he'll probably have his flashers on and I'll see him well before he gets to me but the one who's doing 90 and comes over from the far right and needs to get by me NOW to impress his girlfriend can wait.

Ego on the highway and making assumptions about the motives of other traffic is really silly.

Best thing to do is to never expect anyone on the road to be a good or courteous driver. Then you'll never be upset, and I'm figuring you can avoid more accidents, even the ones you think were unavoidable. Some call it "driving defensively."

Amen, Blake.

Here is an example of "policing" on the road. I'll be candid. There was nothing done to risk the guy in the pickup truck with what the rider does. It is pure ego and rage from the guy in the truck. The truck driver should be locked up for a long time.

Move over as expeditiously as possible. Your ego can handle it unless you have some serious issues.
