I'm training for an upcoming Tough Mudder event. Anyway, I want to record this fiasco for posterity. Does anyone know of a video camera that can be worn on / strapped to the body that could stand up to this type of abuse??

I would get this: http://gopro.com/cameras/hd-motorsports-hero-camer a/

Then add this body strap: http://gopro.com/camera-mounts/chest-mount-harness /

yep, guess who got pulled over in Kenmore, Lake forest park Brier Area today?

The cop unit is a little more'durable' and thus more expensive. These should get you through the event.

There were a few guys at the Tough Mudder New England last week wearing GoPro's. They had them mounted to their chests and seemed pretty happy with them. I haven't seen the footage yet, though. If I were to do it, I'd wear a helmet and put it on top. You're going to do a fair bit of falling, and it would suck to land on the camera.

look up www.tachyoninc.com they make the smallest HD cameras and spec ops uses them and the HD one is only 139.99 and as long as three quarters side by side. I am also going to try and make it to the tough mudder this year in virginia.

I did the Bear Mountain event. Its pretty intense. Just be careful where you wear it. You will be on your chest a lot, so I wouldnt do that.

A lot of people had Go pro's with it mounted to a bicycle helmet. Thats probably your best bet. It would need to be strapped down pretty good no matter where you mount it.
Personally I dont think its worth it, your better off recruiting friends and loved ones to follow you around and take pics/video.

Have fun, its gonna kick your butt, but just keep pushing!

I plan on "mounting" it just because I will not have a way to carry it. I just need one that won't smash if I happen to fall on it, or crap out if it gets submerged in mud or H2O. I plan to take it "off" when it is time to snap a few off. I am doing an event in a town about 7 hours away from home, so family and friends will be few and far between (zero). Thanks for all the suggestions folks

I hear ya, be sure to keep you number visible, like on your chest. TM does a good job with photographers and getting great shots. they go by your number and will email you the pics. I had my number on my chest and some of my buddies had them on their legs and back. I had over twice as many pics come up of me then they did.
Oh and your camera will get wet, muddy, and knocked around a lot! Most people I saw were using go pro's with the plastic waterproof case over it.
Good luck, which event are you doing?
I am planning on going up to Englishtown to do another one in the tristate area.
