Danger dave this is the new town square.
The issue is those who covet what others earn inorder to give it to others that didnt earn it so the giver can feel good about themselves Also Known as the Robin Hood Syndrome. Stealing with a gun is theft so is stealing with a Gov program is still theft.

Then as I posted on Blakes Facebook page, I don't want MY tax dollars going to rebuild the Southern States affected by the floods and tornado's. Let them fend for themselves. Not my fault they chose to live there. Why Should I be responsible for their bad choices? Of course. I am joking. Where does charity end? When it's not convenient for you? Any one here ever been on unemployment? Aid of ANY sort? You were entitled to it, but no one else is?
Danger Dave speaks the truth. This whole place is defunct and I would add irrelevant to the list. Such hate here. Such hate towards humanity. Sad, really.

As I stated on Facebook in reference to YOUR post, I agree that the Federal Government shouldn't be supplying aid to the states.

Much of what happened in hurricane Katrina was the result of poor state management of funds and poor strategic planning. NO was/is rife with corruption and grift.

Every single American has had the product of their labor forcibly removed from their hands and given to the very same people who were corrupt in NO in the first place.

Same goes for Lehman Bros and Goldman Sachs and Chase and AIG. The damage that one or all of these would have caused in their failure is monumentally small compared to the damage caused by the governmental involvement in the bail out.

By using the public coffers to provide "benevolence", you create two problems. First you reward failure and remove the consequences of poor choices and bad behavior. Second you take from individuals completely uninvolved in creating the problem and give to those who should bear the burden of their own poor choices.

That's not benevolence. That's tyranny. That's picking winners and losers. Winners are those who in return for government assistance agree to provide support to those elected who provided the gain (See GE and MSN). Losers are those who have no choice but hand over their rightfully obtained and owned capital and property at the point of a gun.

if your town floods every other season, and you have countless hurricanes running through the alley to usually the letter M or so; and you continue to live there - well then that is on you.
All my relatives are in Arkansas.
I have no intent of ever living there.
I do love the food; I dont care for gars, chiggers, snakes, flooding, and the cyclical power outages (because they all seem to live off the grid, and havent properly figured out pack ups when it goes)

Where does charity end?
When I take your money and you are not giving it freely.

If you give me money because I need some, and you want to, that's charity. Thank you. If Blake takes your money to give it to me, that's not charity. At all. It may be Blake feeling like he wants to help people, or it may be Bread and circus's to get votes, but in either case Blake has to have men with guns and cages to get your money. Or you won't give it.

Rocketsprink may not want his tax dollars ( taken by threat of force and imprisonment ) to go to the war on Lybia, poverty, tooth decay, or whatever. Too bad. As long as the people you hire to do administrative work in government believe that every dollar you earn is theirs, and every dollar they allow you to keep is "spending" of Governments money. ( the current mantra of this admin. Now NOT raising your taxes is spending )

Rocket, do you have any idea on how to actually make a collectivist medical system work? Please, inform us.

Entitlement That is the point of failure of all of your postions Rocket! You want money to be given away along with your rights. The Bill of Rights as recorded is worth more than any money and or material things you love so much. Your willing to send your kids into a world of slavery for money and ( Entitlements)
As Franklin stated " he who gives up a little bit of freedom for a little security deserves neither". A narrow and limited life is lead by those who live by fear. Tyrants alwasy use fear of this or that to control the people. Rocket your welcome to be a kept subject indentured servant wage slave the list is legion. Thankfully most of us perfer to be Free men

Dave Gess kindness is the beginning of cruelty. When Joseph lead his brothers into Egypt it was out of kindness when Moses lead the israelites out it was to end the cruelty they suffered. A old testament example of we are here from the governement to help you.

When the words "for the children" come out, it's usually followed by a scam in which property will be pried from our hands for a fictitious and nefarious use under the guise of "charity".

If it's not slavery, its at least indentured servitude.

I see what you're getting at, but you picked the wrong description. An indentured servant was a worker, typically a laborer, under contract to an employer for a fixed period of time, typically three to seven years, in exchange for their transportation, food, clothing, lodging and other necessities.

They had a way out. Slaves don't have a way out, they're in it for the long haul.

I don't want my tax dollars leaving my state to rebuild another state after a disaster.

That's partially what churches are for. Charitable giving from people who care to people who are in need is beyond sufficient.

The federal government has no business bailing anybody out of anything. If they weren't bleeding the states dry, they could bail themselves out of whatever jam they find themselves in. If they didn't have the cash, they could strike trade deals or get loans from neighboring states.

But NO... the states are forced to feed the beast that is killing them. Forced to live on the excrement of the monster who's only desire is to consume us all.

I'll tell you what I would like to spend some of our tax dollars on: plane tickets. For all the commies to get on planes to whatever socialist paradise they choose to run off to. In fact, we could even give them a few bucks to get their lives started.

Do the ayes have it?

Are you saying I sound like a modern union shop, or the things I described sound like one?

If you think I'm some sort of union sympathizer, you've got me all wrong.

If anything, I'm a union BUSTER. I've crossed every picket line it was ever necessary for me to cross, I have taken work away from unions at every opportunity, and when all the supermarkets went on strike some years ago, I went right on shopping at MY neighborhood store, and I even helped them out by hauling away dumpsters full of trash on MY flatbeds for FREE because the sanitation workers wouldn't do it.

Now, those same supermarkets are staffed by every high school kid who filled the position and became long term at-will employees. They're glad to be working there, as far as I can tell.

Good on them, shame on unions for putting people out of work and their families at risk for the sake of trying to negotiate unreasonable salaries and benefit packages.

I've always been either an at-will employee or independent contractor. There is plenty of work out there for those who are willing to adapt and adjust to the circumstances.

Just ran across the following Samuel Adams quote:

It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.

Large changes happen in increments too small to perceive. I find this an ideal place to hone my views. I learn much here. When I'm off on something, I tend to get my course corrected. If BadWeb were the sum total of my life, there still would be impact in the world. BadWeb is just a small part of my life. It is however unknowable the impact on the world, what happens here. The whole of our world is made of small insignificant events.

BW isn't any different than the water cooler, feed store, or town hall. The discussions here provide an opportunity to discuss ideas and defend or amend your position.

Since major political changes occur through the election process, the best I can do is to sway a voter or two or ten to see things the way I can.
