Curious - what does the motor/trans of a 1125R weigh, and the same question on the VRod motor.
Just got to thinking about it last night, thought I'd ask

151 lbs and 208 lbs. With TB's, coils, etc. No rads, coolers or hoses. 1190 is lighter.

What makes it lighter?

Erik Buell engineering v. Willie Davidson styling.

Less decorative metal = less weight.

There used to be a Discovery Channel show that described the V-Rod development and it was HEAVY on the styling emphasis.

After watching that 1190 assembly video and seeing the case halves, it is hard to imagine lighter weight, without a LOT of money to spend. Jeez, 1/4" case bolts??

Youve misunderstood my post Slaughter, Im not asking what makes the 1125 lighter than the Vrod, but what makes the 1190 lighter than 1125 motor.

Sorry about that... I tend to see a chance to be a smarta$$ and just go for it.

My bad for misinterpreting.

The guts of the 1190 are RACE internals - Ti valves, lightened pistons (I THINK) - mostly internal stuff. Wouldn't be surprised to find that the whirling bits are quite a bit lighter.

Less cylinder liner weight, the rods and pistons are most likely lighter...the crank has most likely been lightened some....and the transmission is made of unrealmium...a metal with characteristics similar to DiLithium crystals... ; )
