There was a LOT of discussion on these fans back in 2006/2007 when the fans on several Badwebber's Ulys died. One guy, who was a bearing application engineer by trade, bought a fan off ebay and disassembled it. He also used a infrared temperature gun to get accurate temperature readings for the air being handled by the fan. His conclusion was that operating environment was too hot for the seals used in the ball bearings and IIRC the grease was borderline. My guess in your case is the seals failed and the grease ran out. Apparently Buell and/or the fan manufacturer figured this out and upgraded the bearings and lube around late 2006, because I haven't read of a failed Uly fan in a long time.   Rwven Posted on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 - 11:45 am:        The fan on my '08 failed...bad bearings... I'm waiting for the new one to fail now that the leaking rocker box seals have puked oil all over it. The fan on my 07 Uly has lasted 29,000 miles, including a failed rear rocker gasket oil soaking. In fact, it outlasted the freaking engine.
