"So raise your hand if you knew that the United States has been extending billions of dollars in aid to Qaddafi and to the Central Bank of Libya...."

Whats the problem? We need to keep our investment going don't we? Why should we freeze our own assets? But maybe it is over my head and below my feet...(probably is)

What assets in Libya? Most of the oil goes to europe. If private business is in Libya, it SHOULD not be the governments business to bail them out.

Federal Reserve is privately owned. It is not part of the United States Government, but it does issue Federal Reserve currency.

Rolling stone is not as good a source for political events as the National Enquirer.

( been lame since Hunter S. Thompson quit writing, IMHO And he won't be doing any more )

Our aid to Libya came after the dreaded Bush freed Iraq, Gaddafi decided not to be next, and surrendered his WMDs. We then opened up relations. and of course, money follows.

No matter what your opinion of Rolling Stone magazine, the simple question remains - what possible justification is there to send 23 billions to a confirmed scoundrel, in the form of ultra-cheap loans, from December 2007 through February 2010, right at the depth of what is surely one of the very worst periods in our economic history?

And we were never to be told of this bull**** perpetrated by the Fed - the information had to be forcibly extracted through legal action and enforced legislation!

...what possible justification...
Bribing bad guys. It's the way they do things. They call it pragmatic. I call it insane. Hey, seems like you agree, just aren't as cynical as I am. Wait a while.

While I don't know if the guy getting ripped off here is a good guy or bad, the bad guys are pretty obvious.

That's partly why von NotHaus' group has been followed for years by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a group that tracks political extremism. Long before the government began its investigation into von NotHaus, the group was raising concerns about the popularity of Liberty Dollars among fringe groups on the far right.

"He's playing on a core idea of the radical right, that evil bankers in the Federal Reserve are ripping you off by controlling the money supply," said Mark Potok, spokesman for the group. "He very much exists in the world of the anti-government patriot movement, whatever he may say. That's who his customers are."

Anti-government patriot movement? You mean patriots?

It's easy to spot the bad guys, they are the ones who make personal attacks and use the Alinsky tactics of defamation and name calling. Like certain posters here. ( some who won't respond to me anymore after I thanked them for admitting they had no argument after calling me a tea bagger. ) Or, come to think of it, My Senator, Chuck-you Schumer. Who, not knowing he was on line to reporters and not just co-conspirators, explained that "the caucus" had told him to use the term extremist re: the tea party people, and his political enemies. Then someone realized he was live and cut him out of the call.

Liars use name calling. Truth tellers use facts. Pity the "media" prefers the Liars.

As to the thread....

The U.S. bribed Gaddafi to be a good boy. He was happy to take the money.

We do this a lot, and I don't know where it ever does more than hold off the war or massacre a short time. There are very few decisions by our State Dept. I approve of, and even fewer by this admin.

To be fair, Obama is taking credit for giving money to Israel for antimissile systems. I have no problem with a politician taking credit for a success that is good for our country. Like Obama's masterful win ( but not victory ) in Iraq. History will show later that a politician is a lying sack, no matter what the "media" reports. The Internet, and Youtube lets us hear the real words and know the lies if our ideology does not blind us to the truth.

As Mulder said, "the truth is out there".

I wonder. If I notify my bank that supposedly has my mortgage that I require proof of ownership, or I will assume all obligations complete...... How long until I go to jail?

He's playing on a core idea of the radical right, that evil bankers in the Federal Reserve are ripping you off by controlling the money supply," said Mark Potok, spokesman for the group.

"Um, this is actually something that is open to debate?"

(line lifted from Tyler Durban, on 'Zero Hedge')

Funny, I never considered myself "radical right." LOL
