Bright sunshiney day here in N.Florida. Peaceably riding home from work at the speed limit. The car on my right decides to change lanes w/o looking. I swerved to the left & braked as hard as I dared. I just missed him! One loud blast on the horn later & the driver continues as if nothing has happened. (B*ST**D!) At the next light I check out his vehicle. (A newish Dodge Charger) The LH rear view mirror is shattered. The dude didn't turn his head before cutting me off, so I assume he didn't look at all! I resisted the urge to dismount & "discuss" his driving with him but I sure did feel like it. I let it go & rode the remaining 5 miles home. As the title says, I was as mad as a snake. (Sorry, just had to vent/tell someone about this) Chris C |

You could have used your left boot to make his right mirror match his left. |

I usually use my boot to help "avoid the collision". I have dented in a few fenders and doors this way, and it sure helps you to move over easily....much more so that if my handlebars hit the vehicle. |

I thought about it but WTF! Typical, unthinking car driver. Florida are famous for them. Chris C |

I feel your pain brother. I got cut off like that once by an airport shuttle bus, one of those medium-duty chassis jobs. Traffic was moving at all of 5-10mph. He was leap frogging 3-4 cars using the merge ramp and thought I'd give way on a bike...he was wrong. When the fender suddenly appeared a foot away on my right side, I put a size 10 combat boot print on his door. He then tried to intimidate me by running right up on my rear and revving it up all the while yelling and shaking his fist. So I wrote all his bus number and info on my arm and called the company when I got home...the dispatcher thanked me a LOT for the call and said that was his last straw, he's done that afternoon. Sweet justice! |

I'm guilty of some "custom bodywork" in similar situations! |

only persons door I have ever kicked in was a guy in a navigator. The back up story is me, my wife, and my dog were on a road trip. I was on the bike and the dog and wife were in the car. we had stopped at a gas station for a break for gas, dog to pee and me to warm up. Well when I opened the door of the car my dog darts out of the door and across the street too pee. well I was trying to get him to come across the road and the guy in the navigator runs a stop sign to hit my dog and does not stop. I was pissed off so I jump on my bike no gloves or helmet to chase him down, well he pulled over about a mile or so down the road to check on his car when I seen it I kicked in the door then pulled up in front of him and was going to whop his butt too but he drove off before I could get off my bike. |

We get the same thing up here in Georgia, with all the Floridiots coming up here with their shit driving techniques. 80% of the time I get cut off, or have to stand on the brakes to save my own paint, I look down and it's a Florida tag. |

We drove down to daytona for the races and we saw more accidents between jacksonville and daytona than the whole way. Had 2 accidents happen right in front of us just like you described. On that note I will never ride to the races there . Glad you are safe, keep your head up. |

A friend of mine keeps 10 or so marble-sized ball-bearings in his jacket pocket for just the situations as you described....At about 50mph,he pulls about 20yds.ahead of said car and bounces the ball-bearings off the pavement.does a bit of damage to most windshields! I do not agree with the tactic, but it is effective...I am just sayin' |

I took the X1 to Daytona on the Wednesday. I came back to Jax on the Saturday. I saw 4 bike related accidents in 85 miles on I95. People in Fla just don't look! I rode to work & back today, so no prob's RE: me & the bike riding. I just HATE that cagers do not know what they are doing here in Fla. |
