Need to helicoil a primary adjuster in a primary and need to know what the diameter and thread size of the adjuster screw on an 06 Uly so that we can get the right helicoil size. Thanks for your help. |

If you have the adjuster you can take it to an auto parts store and get a heli coil kit with the tap and all. |

I wish my bike was next to me. It doesn't say in my service manual. It is close to a 1/2-13. I can't get any proof right now though. |

Why didn't you ask an M2 question? I can go look at one of those. Oh yeah, you could too. XB9 or Blast question? You got a drill? Auto parts don't open till 9:00, best I can tell. I'm about two hours this-a-way, more than willing, if I know how I can help. Or maybe I should wait and see just how bad you tear it up before I start, in case we need the truck and trailer. |

Adjuster removed and I'll ride fatty's Em deuce out to the auto zone in the morn for a helicoil. If I can't find the helical I need any other options? |

I would guess that it's a 14mmx1.5 My local AutoZones are buffoons and do not carry Helicoils. They do carry an off brand, but smaller sizes. You may want to try a 'real' parts store ie. CarQuest, NAPA, etc. |

Haven't found a nut yet to be sure. I don't guess it really matters if you take it with you anyway, but I may still find one, or just pull mine out. |

I finally found a nut that fits what I am pretty doggone sure is a standard 1/2" x 13 bolt and it fits that primary adjuster just fine. It is an 03 XB9 though. |

Barker if you cant get a helicoil get some a+b epoxy or even better Marinetex epoxy with metal added Stainless if possible a better gun shop with have Brownells steelbed bedding compound. Clean the lube out of the threads seal the hole totally. Warm up the epoxy with floodlight drop light etc. drill and tap hole after epoxy is hard. It will get you home. Then get a Helicoil installed when you can get to a drill press. |

Another alternate would be to JB Weld a matching nut inside the primary case; that would give you good threads to hold the adjuster. The JB Weld would just be keeping the nut from turning so its strength wouldn't be as critical. The metal/rubber primary gaskets are usually good for a couple of times without leaking so you can re-use the old one. |

Okay, the stores have been open for most of an hour. Is that thing running yet? |

Advance Auto Parts also sells a 'thread repair kit' which is like JB Weld with a release compound for the threads. You coat the bolt, pack the liquid metal into the hole and let it cure. I've used it on intake bolts up to about 25 ft/lb of torque |

He just posted on Facebook- Uly is fixed and prepared to head to T.W.O. for last time. I'm still trying to figure how a bike could strip the threads on the primary adjuster screw. Glad he got it fixed. |

How a BIKE could do it? You may be asking the wrong question. |
