found this 1980 Vespa Grande Super Deluxe locally.. at least I think that's what it is. The listing of "Vespa Piaggio Grande" doesn't sound right.

From what I can find from a little bit of reading online, this should be worth about $700 if it's running and as clean as it appears to be in the pics.

I'm considering trying to get it running and resell it real quick, but figured I'd ask here to see what some opinions are. I don't know much about scooter history or value, I just ride my '08 Zuma to save gas.

Thoughts?

That's not a scooter, it's a moped!

Not that it really matters, the terms are used widely, but when you're into antique Italian scooters like I am, and someone tells you that they have an 'old vespa' in the shed, its such a bummer to find one of these Grandes or Ciaos.

If you're a good tinkerer you can probably get that Grande running for relatively little money, (tires, tubes, spark plug, and about a foot of fuel line usually) but if you need any parts at all you're at the mercy of mail order. I think the odds are against you doubling your money on a flip.

Old scooters like the ones I'm into have crossed over from a youthful thing to an older-person-with-more-money thing, so prices are going up and buyers are more picky about originality and condition. Old mopeds are hot with young people right now, but they don't have much money to spend.

No title means far lower value.

Thanks for the info everyone. I didn't realize this was a moped instead of a scooter. I may go ahead and look at it tomorrow, but will probably leave it for someone else.
