My last official payday was March 15th. The good: I have not been to work since December 23d and they still paid me. I am getting a good severance package. I can draw unemployment. My wife is still working. Spring is on it's way and I can start riding again. The bad: Haven't thought if anything yet. | ||

California sucks and will continue to suck for a long time. Hey, maybe you can get one of those promised 400,000 jobs when high speed rail begins. Construction here is slow and so plan review/permitting is slow too. Inspectors and plan checkers sit around all day "pulling the wings off butterflies". As a consequence, my costs have gone way up adding even more incentive to just hang it up and leave CA forever. | ||

Unless they have been working on getting the land for that rail way for decades I don't see that project being started for a long, long time. Around here we have the Elgin-O'hare expressway. It's been in the works for decades now and only has a short distance actually built. So far it doesn't go to Elgin, and it doesn't go to O'hare. It also hasn't seen any work since the first 5-6 mile section opened up. Hacksaw, glad you seem to have a good attitude about your unemployment. It's a rough time to be looking for work. Thanks Sifo, I have been though this before and had been preparing for this place to fold for awhile. I put in 15 years at this place. |
