I'm currently pressing in new front wheel bearings with a new spacer from Al and the brake rotor side seems to be bottomed out, but not nearly as deep into the hub as the opposing side. Then again, we're talking a few thousandths of an inch there. The spacer will spin free but has no lateral movement. When installed, will the axle pinch it the rest of the way? |

The non-rotor side is flush, the rotor side protrudes about .060" |

Check the shop manual; the bearing on one side should be pressed in until it bottoms out, the other should only be pressed in until the inner race touches the spacer. Being able to move the spacer is normal. |

I was just checking out the manual, it also says that installed depth will vary. I guess I'll leave it and see what happens. I'm also going to check the original bearing to see where the 'weather' marks are to see if it's always been like that. Thanks for the input! |

The important thing is to install it per the manual instructions, re the torquing and then re-torquing of the bolt. Essential so as not to over-tighten the spacer, crushing it and causing premature bearing failure. |
