Who has the details on how the event went? I know he had hinted at a few surprises. I know someone had to have went to it. My plans changed at the last minute so I wasn't able to head down for the weekend. I was really looking forward to it too bad that work thing gets in the way sometimes. |

So far this is all I have found. Great news though! Erik Buell announced major financing secured for his new company Erik Buell Racing. He WILL be producing quality motorcycles geared to both advanced and new riders in the future. Brilliant, likeable guy, very committed to the future of our sport. |

Announcement of the announcement, link. (OLD) http://www.motorcycle.com/news/buell-to-speak-at-b reakfast-for-daytona-90412.html Anyone find anything new? *sigh* SOMEONE else HAD to be there. If Court won't talk... who else can we torture? I'm eager to hear about any investors so I can start writing letters and buying products. (IF it's a business with established consumer products) |

Slip on a pipe and ECM to up it to about 190HP.50 of the 100 are promised overseas so only 50 here in the States. The guys promised to build one for me so that leaves 49.Got to meet and harass Erik and the crew all weekend. You couldn't meet a nicer bunch of Guys. A lot of good info. here: http://www.powersportsbusiness.com/output.cfm?id=2 729881 “The H-D dealers who just love cruisers and touring bikes are the most successful Harley dealers,” he explained. “Some of the Harley dealers also loved sport bikes, and they did well with Buell. What I learned from them was the dealers that have success are the ones that love what they’re doing, love the product, identify with the customers.” Enthusiastic dealers, he says, will give the customer the best treatment and buying experience. “In the sport bike business you need great technology; you need a great motorcycle, but the business is most successful when the customer’s delighted, so we want to build a bike that delights them. But their experience with the dealer needs to be the thing that really bonds them to our brand,” Buell said. Buell didn’t share a target number of dealers for Erik Buell Racing to seek in 2011, only saying it will be more than five. “It’s got to be just rational for everybody,” he said. “It’s got to make sense for the dealers; it’s got to make sense for the customers. We have to be in enough areas that people will be able to get their bikes serviced.” Especially with a limited release of only 100 1190RS bikes, Erik Buell Racing plans to be careful before bringing dealers in. “We don’t want to sign you up and not be able to give you a bike, so we’ll be signing dealers throughout the year,” Buell said. Erik Buell Racing hasn’t finished drafting a contract, but one will be available soon. Gene Ostrom, who spent 20 years at Honda and 10 with Harley-Davidson, is vice president of sales and marketing and will be heading dealer recruitment. “We’ve had a number of (interested) dealers, even dealers who have contacted us prior to coming here (to Dealer Expo), but we haven’t signed anybody,” Buell said. Though exact terms have yet to be worked out, Erik Buell Racing plans to offer parts and support within its dealer program. “Customer satisfaction is huge for us, so we will make sure the dealers get the parts and support they need,” Buell said. What’s next As the dealer network begins to build, Erik Buell Racing will be shipping out the 1190RS units. The company will then inform interested customers where the nearest dealership is and how they can get their hands on the bike. Though only one Erik Buell Racing model has been shown so far, others are in the works. Erik Buell Racing hopes to sell a couple thousand bikes in 2012. “We want to grow the business a lot,” Buell explained. “This is not about selling these 100 bikes; it’s about establishing ourselves and those dealers as well.” With the first model already designed and heading into production, engineers have begun working on other models. “We know how to make different models and derivatives. We know how to make bikes that are even down under $10,000 and make money at it. That’s going to take some time to get there, and I’m not talking months,” Buell said. Erik Buell Racing’s goal is to eventually have more affordable models to reach a variety of consumers. “We produced a lot of innovative bikes over a short period of time with Buell (Motorcycles), and we’re ready to do it again,” Buell said. |

With the first model already designed and heading into production, engineers have begun working on other models. An 1125-T! Take the basic 1125 platform, put decent bags on it, give it the ergonomics of an S2-T and a fairing that's sized to work right at highway speeds, and do Buell's usual first class job on suspension. I'd be on it in a minute! Oh; I'm unemployed at the present time. If you need someone to do some real world testing, I'm available and I'll do it for free! |

All this is awesome news, but I wonder why Erik Buell Racing's webpage hasn't been updated with any info recently? Seems like they'd be publicizing all this as much as possible. |

Hugh, probably because the entire staff was busy racing motorcycles in Daytona! Kinda cool that your motorcycle company occasionally hangs a sign on the door that says "come back later, we are all out racing!". |

The website is .... By default .... Really low priority at the moment. Here'd be no way, with the changes taking place daily, to keep it current. Eventually, and not far off, there will be a Erik Buell Racing Communications Group. But . . . .in the interim . . . They've done a nice job of getting info out via Facebook.. |

Noticed the quote above said "...begun working on the other models" - as in plural :-) Anybody want to speculate on what the next models in the pipeline will be? Me thinks the dirt squirter is probably on the short list, mainly because it was near completion, and I think they could get some mileage out of a motard variant with little additional investment. Also sends a statement to the public that Erik Buell Racing is not going to be boutique builder of a single style cycle. Any other speculation to pass the time? |

>>>Me thinks the dirt squirter is probably on the short list, mainly because it was near completion Be mindful that all 85% of that belongs to Harley-Davidson Motor Company. That's one thing that I think folks are really missing about the huge accomplishment made over the last year. While the 1190RS may, in some respects, resemble, the 1125 . . . it basically required starting from scratch, finding new vendors and so forth. Some of the process, needless to say, was made simpler as a result of the 1125, some made more difficult. There have really been some amazing advancements over the past 16 months. Be certain of one thing. . . Erik has no intention of selling 100 copies of a &55,000 boutique bike for $40,000 and retiring. I made a bet on the number of bikes he'll be building in 18 months. We'll see if I win my steak dinner or not . . but I'm not planning on even taking my wallet.
