Something's goofy with the image I linked; I'm not sure if it's showing up or not. Here's the actual pic:

I'm worried. One article says all of the bodywork is carbon fiber, and NEITHER article mentions price... |

I like it. Nice to see another American company putting some scoots on thee street. I was strolling through the pics on the right, and saw the little Suzuki S40 cafe jobby. I know what I would like my future Blast to look like. Er......wait......maybe thats TWO projects to do now........ |

Back to harping on my previous topic of DOT EPA and all, I see that it had no catalytic converter. Preproduction? 1125 didn't have a catalyst, did it? Just thinking out loud I guess. I am paying close attention to these folks. |

Looks like something out of China. Too goofy for me. Might make a good touring rig if that's what one is looking for. The 1125 has cat. |

It does look a little goofy, but I could get used to it. Hey, I had an X1. |

I LOVE the engine, and could learn to accept the looks. Really, the plastics in the front are the only problem IMO. All of the exposed mechanicals look great. |

it seems like it would be a neat ST bike however I am guessing because of all of that CF on it it will have the same problem all American sport bikes besides buell's have had and that is a huge price tag. Until another American sport bike company comes out with a bike priced in line with the jap 4 or at least around the prices of the euro bikes they will all just be rare exotics. |

from motus web page "Minumum 140bhp @ 7800rpm; 162Nm (120lb-ft) @ 4500rpm; 8000rpm redline" |

The Helicon engine makes more power, 146 BHP. They also mention a 500 LB Dry Weight (estimated). Seems like you could add luggage and a windscreen to an 1125 and not get close to 120 LBs of additional weight. Car engines on motorcycles don't make a lot of sense. |

The Helicon engine makes more power, 146 BHP. From Hell for Leather:
quote:Motus revealed last night that, rather than the 140bhp/120lb-ft figures initially disclosed, the engine actually makes 160bhp and 122lb-ft of torque.
Car engines on motorcycles don't make a lot of sense. Now that sounds just like the folks that we had to put up with saying 2-valve air-cooled engines are antiquated and don't belong in motorcycles. When you think about it, the Motus plant shares some significant features with the Buell engines we came to love: pushrods, hydraulic lifters, 2 valves per cylinder, etc. I like the way these guys think, and wish them luck. |

Well, looks are subjective. I didn't care for the pods on the 1125 initially, but I got used to them. I like that is is not just another cookie cutter look like so many bikes are. It is lighter than an FJR or Concours 14 if the figures are accurate and the hp is also competitive or better than the competition. My main concern is cost. I doubt a little start up can be competitive with the big Japanese firms from a cost stand point. I would be willing to pay some more, but I can't go too high or I just won't be able to afford one. We'll see. |

I wish them well. I think the bikes are pretty cool and subsequently the motor also, even if on paper it might not be the most logical. |
