Not sure of the quality but for 35.00 does it really matter?

If you actually want to hear it, and not get a distorted mess, get helmet speakers. The ones that are part of my Scala Rider bluetooth work fantastic.

Careful about damaging your hearing and tinitus.

Earbuds with outside noise attenuation or active noise canceling will help prevent hearing loss. Even the quitest helmets allow a lot of wind noise. That plus the volume needed to listen to music enjoyably would likely lead to significant damage to hearing.

I use these.

Blake, are those sony's active noice cancelling? Or does the IPhone do that part for them? And is the mic noise cancelling as well?

To each his own, but I just could never get into listening to music while I ride.

My engine makes its own music.

Bill,

They are noise isolating, no active noise canceling though. Basically they are just part ear-plugs, part speakers.

I'm learning that active noise canceling earbuds are becoming available, but not all have the iPhone mic and controls. I'll be looking for some as soon as the prices come down.

Matt, John,

I bet if you tried it, you might change your mind. I was like-minded until I got the iPhone and tried it with earbuds. Wow, really enjoyable, especially on the longer more boring legs of moto-adventure, the riding-to-the-fun roads parts.

Blake, I have in fact tried it. And tried it, and tried it. Dropped coin on some really good noise canceling earbuds...

It's not for me.

Even if I was riding a bagger, I wouldn't have a stereo on it. A CB radio would be the extent of the audio electronics.

I know there are some on here that disagree - but I've tested half a dozen bikes with stereos now.

All were all-but useless on the open road in a crash helmet. Worked OK round town.

I pretty much always ride with buds and an iPod. Even going back to the days of the Sony FM walkman.

The first pair of ear-bud noise cancelling units I bought were Phillips brand from Wal-Mart. They worked pretty well but the little donuts fell off too easy.
The next pair were Kenwoods that have a nice volume control but I don't think the work as well even though they were 3X the Phillips ones. At least the donuts stay on them.
