Yep... I'd say we're definitely doomed. Just haven't been able to figure out how or when. These guys seem to have narrowed it down a bit. I'm betting on the nuke / terrorist theory followed by the global economic collapse theory.

everybody here is assuming that the population is at current, or expanding levels. and that capital expenditures will continue to develop as a means to initiate the 'smart' technology for the artint robots.

progressive ideal of genocide culling. If you systematically reduce the demand for limited resources.... then there is indeed 'more' for those that are left.

and genocide is not unheard of, I have seen my share of 'ethnic' clensings in the last 15 years; dont think America is immune from it.
And the information about the mitigation, briefings, and planning against small tac terrorist nuke detonation is wildly innacurate.

And finally, look for new 'Bama Bucks' right around 2017-2020 (I dont think their will be an apocolypse in 2012 as the mayans predict; it will be Y2k 2.o)

The one they totally missed - the gerymandering by feel good PC bureacrats. Never underestimate the ability of the govt to totally f up a clear solution.

America is staring at being a 3rd world
economy, there will indeed be a 'reset'

and for entertainment value, get your tinfoil hats....he is either a good actor, or indeed believes it

"Growth, growth, growth" is the battle cry in all the board meetings. For what? Greed to fatten their pocket books? What's wrong with status quo? I was happy 36 years ago at $1.90 an hour. I had fun, bought toys by saving for them, had food on the table and gas in the tank every day....regardless that there were many friends that made, took or earned way more money. Everybody else should have been happy too. So prices go up because everybody else wasn't happy with the "growth" and I am not at "status quo" any more..and have to have a raise or find a different job......and it's just a falling domino from there on. I'd go back to the 70's in a heart beat with 100 million less people and ten million less rules and laws............or maybe I don't understand the whole damned growth/economy thing.
And when the last domino falls, how long will that stash of water and food last you? Months? Maybe. Look at all the stuff you use everyday................now go out and buy that much stuff to last you a year.
It ain't all going to fit in your apartment closet! Your supplies dry up or rot..then what?
Farmers are the next sheiks.....$6.00 corn and $14.00 beans.........we all need food and they are the ones that provide it.
Community, county and state governments are all cutting costs and jobs. Will that solve the real problem?

Von Bueller,

Can you tell how/why the long hair with a goatee but no job is full of crap?

Think "supply and demand"?

Regardless of what you think of the long-haired guy with a goatee, can you give me one single reason why it wouldn't be a good idea to prepare now for a tougher future, to live with greater consciousness, greater self reliance, less wastefully, with a better local infrastructure?

Henry David Thoreau: Walden

give it a read, both for entertainment and critical evaluation.

there are indeed some great insights there. I read it because our Jr High BANNED it, it is one of my favorites, and my old copy is well dog-eared.

You can start with one of my favorites:

"If I knew for a certainty that a man was coming to my house with the conscious design of doing me good, I should run for my life."

Fahren,

I'm all for it. Just don't like the nonsense the guy was peddling about energy. I left after five minutes when I saw more than an hour still to go.

It is ceaselessly amazing what some are so eager to believe.

The idea of self-fulfilling prophesy should be of greater concern than the prophesies of doom themselves.

Thus the question: Can you tell how/why the long hair with a goatee but no job is full of crap?

Dam,....If I could afford it, I would buy a 1971 2 dr Lincoln Mark 3 with a 460ci, 11-15 mpg sn't bad at all for a secondary vehicle, Or some old 4x4 diesel pickup. Or a 1973 Pontiac Formula 400 Firebird M23-4spd, Or a 1948 Pontiac Silver Streak, Or a circa' 60's-70's Checkered Cab.

And now for another moment of Thoreau

"We are in great haste to construct a magnetic telegraph from Maine to Texas, but Maine and Texas, it may be, have nothing important to communicate."

wise before his time. Run that info super highway right to the doorstep... so that we can prattle along about American Idol or the Presidents grey hair.
